Like Mike Pence, he stopped needle exchange programs in his state because he had to pray on it. He supports conversion therapy and believes homosexuality is a sin.

Extreme religious belief should absolutely be explored when appointing people who will decide law and freedoms for an entire fucking country.

Im gonna push back a smidge... at least conceptually because I haven't looked into her yet... but isn't the job of the SCOTUS justice to interpret cases BASED ON THE CONSTITUTION, not based on their personal agenda?

This might be a lil lillywhite idealistic but I think its possible to set aside your personal beliefs when looking at matters of law. I personally abhor drugs. Hell, I'm dreadfully uncomfortable holding someone's cigarette. But I think that our founding fathers believed strongly in individual freedoms when writing the constitution so if _I_ were on the bench, I'd take that into consideration on drug cases.... overriding my personal views.

If a candidate does their job in this manner, I won't care who appointed them, their religion, color, etc. If they don't, im not gonna like it even if their views align with mine on those individual cases before them.

to me, it’s the issue that people are already voting on the presidency and senatorial seats.

If your faith informs your decisions, that’s one thing. If faith overrides then Constitution, then we have a huge problem.
Ethics are the touchstone of a society. We must have them to live in groups.
But ethics go beyond faith.

I am okay with a judge who happens to be Catholic. I am not okay with a judge who looks at the law through a Catholic filter.

If judges' didn't let faith dictate interpretation of the law not one single challenge to Roe v Wade would have made it to SCOTUS.

ETA: Barrett has repeatedly made it clear she identifies an Orthodox Catholic. She is viciously anti-choice. She also defended a judges' right for ideological bias on issues such as abortion and the death penalty.

The problem stems from the fact that most people which are politically affiliated with or identify as being part of the current Republican extremists cannot separate church and state and much like most of their other hypocrisy fail to recognize or even remotely understand this is a problem with their much selectively embraced constitution.
