Thanks everyone. I do not know the condition of the other driver. He was sitting up and talking with his feet out of the car, and he looked okay. When I inquired, the ambulance people said they hadn't heard anything about him on their radio. He was about three years older than Methuselah, and said his residence was a nursing home.
How or why he was driving is beyond me. He had to have been speeding. There was a red light ahead. He had to be going so fast that he was further away than I could see and still close enough to hit me. He either wasn't paying attention, or had very slow reflexes. He did not hit his brakes. He did not honk his horn. Based on what I'm able to remember, I am unwilling to prepay the ticket I was given. I'm going to court. I would like his insurance company to pay my deductible ideally. Because of his age, I'm not going to sue for lost wages. But I want the deductible covered, and my driving record restored. I will answer the summons with a motion to dismiss. The Traffic Court judge will decide whether we dismiss it as a civil matter, or go to a trial. If we go to a trial, I will hire an attorney.
I have some soreness, and brain fog. Some of my memory has returned. I wrote out what I could remember over and over, until a memory of what happened after the crash returned. Brain fog is either from a mild concussion, or a side effect of muscle relaxers I was given. I'm supposed to fly west Monday. Doctor said it would be safe to do so.
