With another lockdown starting in Britain tomorrow, and me having a day off today, I went to a local chain store to stock up on clothes - working clothes, because apart from work and being at home there isn't much else these days. The "non-essential" shops close tonight till the start of December (2nd).
Trousers/jeans - why have manufacturers given up on zip flies in favour of buttons?. When I need to go at work I like to unzip/zip and go, not fiddle about with buttons. You sometimes have three minutes at turnround, so you want to pee, wash your hands, adjust your dress before leaving (as our local bogs have it), not attacking buttons in an effort to get them undone and done up again.
Shirts are no problem since they are uniform and supplied, but boxers seem to be being displaced by "fashion" jockstraps - not the ordinary type I used to wear for rugby but strange looking things in lime green and canary yellow. When did the average guy suddenly get the locker room look?. I think nothing is sexier than a real sportsman revealing part of his jock, but these things look horrible - just looks like a pair of trunks with the backside cut out of them.
I must admit I don't have to shop for clothes that often - I buy several of everything to save the hassle, but I don't like the way things are going. Is it just me being awkward, showing my age?
