Do you have a good idea about other posters political swing? I mean if i posed a random question related to politics would you be able to know practically who is likely to agree or disagree with your own viewpoint or who can go either way depending on the question.

As an example if i posed the question "Should milk be free to all paid for from our taxes?" do you have a good idea who is likely to go for that idea and who would staunchly disagree with it?

I ask because politics have a strong influence on friendship don't they? I mean, we can be good friends with people of all persuasions but our best friends think the same way. Perhaps that is obvious

    I think i'm in a thinking mood now...

    Yes. :p

However, a lot of ppl I get on well with have different views to me. But I guess the ones I'd be most likely to continue discussions with, would be the ones that see some things the same way. :)

I think you can have different political views, but still agree on other subjects, though.

    Yes!

We can still be friends even though you talk bollocks about Europe.

I think you do get to learn roughly where people will stand on certain issues on here. (It's late tho, so I'm not at my most logical, lol).

Well, I recently found out my best friend has the exact same political views as I do. And they're pretty specific. (Flemish, very pro-European and centre right)
I only found out recently because our views aren't well received by everyone in Belgium or Flanders so we weren't really eager to talk about it.

My boyfriend however, has the exact opposite political views and that can cause a lot of tension when we discuss politics. He's very leftwing and green...
So far, we've kind of avoided talking about it.

Have you thought about talking politics with your boyfriend so you fall out on purpose? The making up would be fantastic! :biggrin1:

shouldn't matter. i'd say 90% of my best friends (and family) are opposite/other side than me.. but really...

if any political issue isn't lower than #1,479 on your "list of life", i feel sorry for you...
