If I were lucky enough to have a son, I wouldn't have him cut. BUT, I would be very clear in making sure that he understood early on that not being clipped requires some extra care in cleaning and hygiene that ole dad does not do.

Nope. But as Zee stated^, teaching cleanliness is even more important.

All that said, if my son were named Sapien or dxjnorto I might just have it done, so they'd be able to grow up with a purpose and a focus.

I think someone beat you to it :tragedy:

In the US,,circumsize.I mean, why make your boy a target in Jr High and High School showers.Might sound shallow, but why give any boy more shit to go thru growing up.
Zits, puberty and now a dick with foreskin that the majority of others kids dont have.

Youre Just asking to alienate your kid..

I know people think that kids shouldnt care what others say,but remember back to when you were a kid and see if that little bit of sagely advice would have helped you,as kids were calling you " Worm dick "

In Europe, where uncircumsized is the majority, then dont circ..

I totally disagree with you on this.. as the numbers are changing and hopefully in 10-15-18 years there will be laws or at least medical recommendations against circ.

I think its very important to leave this decision up to the owner of the penis.. you only have to be responsible for its cleanliness for like 3 or 4 years until the boy learns how to care for it himself.. he has to live with it for 65 to 100 years..

the vast majority of circumcised guys that I've brought this subject up with, wish that they were not cut.. as some have scaring, other have penile curvature, and other issues that were caused by their circumcisions..

I've found that the uncut guys I know, have no issues with being uncut, and are very thankful that they were left intact... and instead of ridicule and being made fun of by other males, they get inquisative questions and curiosity from other males as depending on where someone is in the country there aren't many uncut ones around.. I honestly didn't really see or experience one in real life until i moved to the diversity of florida rather than the midwest..

but this is due to multiple factors, such as in the midwest i was right at the end of the open showers generation, I mean when i was in sports in hs, the juniors and seniors showered naked but the freshman and sophmores did not.. and now i've heard that no one ever showers ever at schools and if they do they do it clothed or in cubicles..

so what I'm trying to get at is there is no way to know what the social situations regarding nudity and open showers will be in a decade from now, so why make a permenant modification to your childs genetalia that he might always secretly hate you for but they don't bring it up to you since they know that if anyone is going to riducule them for asking it will be their own mother as she doesn't want her son telling her that she was wrong in her decision to cut off part of your son's penis at a time when you were suppose to be his protector not his mutilator..

I agree with Matt. FWIW, as I understand most high school students no longer shower together.

It is as dumb as the argument like father, like son. Never made sense when intact fathers cut their boys on doctor's orders. I have an intact uncle who cut all four of his boys. He feels stupid about it now and as far as I know he has been successful in keeping all his grandkids intact, but at the time didn't feel he could question "medical science."

In any event, what father would compare his dick to his infant sons?

I am circumsized and so are my brothers. Insofar as we know, it's a widespread condition amongst the males in our (extended) family...and shall continue to be.

With all due respect that is the dumbest argument I've ever heard. I mean really? Cut off your sons foreskin because well...everyone else is doing it? Truly...I mean at some point people have to do what they believe in, not what the other moms are doing. I will not rob my son of his right to be uncut and natural the way the good lord made him. If he wants to do it later, like I said, that will be HIS choice!

this reminds me of the story of the woman who invited her mother to dinner and the mother is watching her daughter prepare the meal.

mother to daughter: "why on earth are you cutting both ends off the ham?"

daughter to mother: "i do it exactly like u, that's the way you always did it"

mother to daughter: "dear, i only did that because i never had a baking dish it would fit in"

Two sons here - both still have their foreskins (to my knowledge) and I would never let some doctor mutilate my child in that way unless there was some sound medical reason (then of course it wouldn't be mutilation but corrective surgery)

This shit again.... Cutting pieces of children off should be totally illegal and we should start putting doctors who do it in jail. Just because you pushed out a baby doesn't mean that you have complete rights to do what ever you want... you have parental rights, not the right of body mutilation. If you want a circumcision after you reach adulthood, then go for it. Until then, stop cutting pieces of flesh off your babies... What the fuck, are you people trying to do, make a foreskin suit?

Yay! Another one for tradition! If my mother and her mother and her mother before her were all short should I chop off my daughter's ankles? Just wondering.

Even going further with the analogy... What if your mother had a double mastectomy? would you do the same to your daughters to make you feel better?

I wouldn't consider having it done, however, in Netherlands you will not find either hospital or doctor to remove healthy tissue for cosmetic reasons. You would have to find Jewish circumcisor or Turk barber to do it. Here it is considered one of those idiotic things done by Jews and Turks for religion. In A'dam, some gays do have it done as adults for fashion coz they think it looks hotter.

I feel I have a unique perspective on this, as a 40-something guy who was uncut most of his life. I had myself circumcised just a couple of years ago, and I'm much happier like this; I wish I'd done it sooner.

But I did not have my son circumcised. As others have said, the medical reasons to have it done are thin at best, and I think it should be up to the owner to have done if he wants to. At $1,300, the procedure wasn't unduly expensive, nor was it painful. I think it's bizarre that we make such a fuss about "a woman's right to do what she wants with her body", but we deny the same privilege to our young boys by essentially performing cosmetic surgery on them when they're only a few days old, and making a decision for them that rightfully should be their own.
