Would you date or marry a sex worker?

Would you date or marry someone who uses his or her body in a sexual way to make a living? Why or why not? (I'm including porn actors, escorts, and strippers.)

I did it many years ago, but since we were both guys working in adult entertainment, it wasn't a big deal. For societal reasons, I think it would be much different for a straight guy to date or marry a woman who works in the sex business.

Your thoughts, everyone?

Yes, provided we worked out safety boundaries in a way I found acceptable - after all, I've been involved in various aspects of the industry myself.

There is just something skanly about some one that would do that that does not sit right with me.I mean just using you're body to make money is kind of dirty lowest common denominator....not that there's any thing wrong with that but we are talking about a relationship. Not giving these people money I don't have a problem with that, I guess I prefer to leave it in the bar or sleazy motel room.

I understand and can relate to your concern about how it would affect your relationship, but calling it a "dirty lowest common denominator?" Nah, I don't agree with you on that.

The average sex worker uses condoms more often and gets tested for STDs a lot more often than the average non-sex worker, so to label them all as "dirty" doesn't make sense to me.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. While I probably would not choose to date or marry a sex worker, I don't consifer them the lowest common denominator either. That's a phrase I usually reserve for guests on Jerry Springer or Maury Povich, drug dealers, men who beat their wives and children.

A prostitute? Again, she has to be retired and the individual circumstances will influence my choice.

I guess the quick answer is, "It depends, but probably not."

A porn star is not discret enough and the teenager next door will most likey have the download on his computer. No privacy.

The reason is that the environment they work in does not produce a healthy sex life outside of it. How is my wife going to be in the mood for me after she has just sucked and fucked 20 dicks? How is a stripper going to be in the mood after lap dancing a man that is disgusting. I imagine sex is that last thing on their minds' when they get home and its the first in mine.

Strippers are fine by me, and the strippers I have seen have been absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! After work we sometimes used to go for a drink at a nearby strip club, and afterwards my wife used to experience the release of my sexual tension. Another story.

I have seen escorts in a professional capacity, and I have known some in a personal capacity, and I know they separate job from personal life very, very well. However, I would never get involved with one because their time is never their own, they work visiting hotels while partner is at home, alone. It's the anti-social anti-relationship hours that would kill it for me.
