Isn't the whole point of cloning to AVOID alterations?
Folks, before you get all freaked out, please educate yourselves about what cloning actually is, and how it is done.
You don't clone your 45-year-old self and suddenly have a 45-year-old carbon copy of yourself.
Cloning is taking the genetic material from an individual, and transplanting it into an embryo, then allowing that embryo to gestate to maturity, resulting in a newborn but genetically identical being.
I have not read enough research about clones to know the health issues of clones to date. But if they make it a viable option, I really don't have any squeamishness issues with it.
