I’m in the same boat. Chest and legs are too hairy to go all smooth. Once I tried shaving belly and down to legs, just leaving a hairy chest. My partner loved it but it was too odd for me.

I used to trim. Now I pluck the full sack and shaft. The nice thing is that you grow back thin hair and not stubble. Or I leave it natural when I am too lazy. If a guy is completely smooth I actually would't want to even touch it. I find it very unesthaetic. Especially if there is belly and leg hair all around. Not a good look at all imo.
