"Making America Great Again." The fkrs ought to choke on the words:

Rats reported feeding on packages of rotted fruit and meat as postmaster general's cutbacks unleash chaos at California's mail centers

Employees at mail sorting facilities across California are reporting padlocked sorting machines, mountains of untouched mail, and rodent-infested packages as they struggle with widespread cutbacks in staffing and equipment.

Postal workers and union leaders have told the Los Angeles Times that the recent cutbacks recently imposed by the postal service have caused major delays at facilities across the state.

At one facility in Santa Claris, employees discovered that their sorting machines had been padlocked or disabled.

Workers at another mail-sorting hub in South Los Angeles reported seeing gnats and rodents picking apart containers of fruit and meat that had been left to rot.

Then again, the blood of 100,000 Americans DEAD from Covid-19 is ALREADY on Trump's hands. So what's thousands more due to his DELIBERATE SABOTAGE OF THE USPS?

Is it really a life if it’s in a blue state and/or not a fetus? That will determine our next steps or call it a dependent on big government handouts?

You know, four years ago, I predicted much of the destruction to our democracy that has occurred under Trump's fascist regime. But if you'd asked me back then would I think Americans would quietly sit back and watch the open and deliberate destruction of a Constitutionally provided for institution such as the United States Postal Service, in outright effort to deprive American citizens of their RIGHT TO VOTE, even I probably would've said, "No way THAT would fly."

Well, I would've been WRONG:

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Thursday shined a light on shocking new examples of “sabotage” of the United States Postal Service by President Donald Trump’s administration.

“I just mentioned some breaking news about what’s going on with this ongoing story of the administration admitting now they are trying to sabotage the post office before we all vote absentee by mail in this election because of the coronavirus,” Maddow reported. “Today, the president really did come out and say he’s undermining the postal service and denying it funds so that they can’t handle ballots for the election.”

Postal employees have first amendment rights and can talk to the media ANYTIME they want to.

Not quite. Any employer can restrict an employee's access to media while they are on the job - or in some cases as a matter of policy off the job. If you don't like it, get another job. I think the order to postal workers not to speak to the media was really stupid but I also think that in the context of 'while on duty' it was legal. A deployed soldier has first amendment rights to talk to the media, but not from the field or on his job. First thing I had to sign when I worked for the State was the policy on speaking to the media - if someone asked be a question about my job or job related information from the press I had to refer them to the media office. A State Police Captain I worked for was fired for speaking off the record to the Washington Post. Off duty is a different issue. Clearly postal workers have been speaking out, but not on duty.

The U.S. Postal Service Is a Threat to Your Life
Disruptions of mail aren’t just a problem for the election—they’re a danger to millions of American lives.
By Laurie Garrett, Kavita Patel | August 29, 2020, 1:16 AM

The U.S. Postal Service is now widely suspected of carrying out the president’s desire to suppress voting in this year’s election. But those fears understate the threat that changes the U. S. Postal Service now poses to the American public. Hardly anyone in the federal government seems to have given consideration to the health of more than 200 million Americans who depend upon the Postal Service for delivery of medicines, veterans’ assistance benefits, Social Security checks, food subsidies, child support, or deliveries of basic goods and food—dependencies that have been magnified by COVID-19. It is a medical crisis caused by what should be a political scandal: President Donald Trump’s administration’s quiet attempt to make mail delivery a private, rather than public, service.

The drama that unfolded in July and August, prompting passage of an emergency House bill, and its predictable blockage in the Republican-controlled Senate amid a threatened presidential veto, stemmed from a series of actions taken by a new postmaster general. But the plan that would deprive rural Americans, individuals without Internet access, veterans, and millions of other citizens of their rightful postal deliveries was hatched long before he held office.

Oversight panel set to subpoena DeJoy amid clash over Postal Service
Democrats say the postmaster general's operational changes will undermine mail-in voting in the 2020 election.
The House Oversight Committee is preparing to issue a subpoena for Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, accusing him of ignoring the panel’s demand for documents related to Postal Service mail delays and contacts with White House officials or the Trump campaign.

Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) indicated Monday that DeJoy had refused to comply with a request for documents she issued during his testimony to the committee last week, when she first made her subpoena threat.
The panel is seeking details on changes to USPS overtime policy, sorting machines and general delays in mail service, which they warn will undermine mail-in voting across the country. President Donald Trump has long railed against the Postal Service and mail-in voting, though DeJoy has rejected charges he's acting at Trump's behest.

“The subpoena clarifies a number of previous requests based on information obtained to date in order to ensure that it captures all documents within the requested categories, and it also makes clear as a legal matter that the production of these documents is mandatory,” Maloney said.

The committee is also issuing a document request to USPS board chairman Robert Duncan about materials it says Duncan is withholding by citing a Justice Department legal opinion. Maloney intends to issue a subpoena for those documents as well if Duncan doesn’t comply, according to committee aides.

Robert “Mike” Duncan, the chairman of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) board of governors, has been a busy guy what with helping Donald Trump and Louis DeJoy destroy the Postal Service and —this is real— being a director of Sen. Mitch McConnell's $130 million super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund.

He is also a director of American Crossroads Super PAC, which spent $1.9 million backing Trump this cycle. So that's nice for all of them.

Duncan is a "good friend" and "valued partner" of McConnell, in McConnell's own words. McConnell in fact recommended Duncan for the USPS post, and introduced him at his 2018 confirmation hearing. "As a businessman, a public servant and a dedicated mentor to young people, Mike is an outstanding choice to help oversee the world’s largest postal organization."

Oversee, dismantle. Potato, pahtahto. McConnell, don't forget, had engineered this position for Duncan by blocking President Barack Obama's board of governor nominees.

McConnell has [ALSO] been blocking $25 billion in USPS emergency funding, passed by the House in their HEROES Act in May, for 106 days. McConnell does not want the Postal Service to function. He has helped Trump load the board of governors with Trump supporters and Republican operatives, where they are in a very good position to use the USPS for their own ends: suppressing Democratic votes.

The USPS has warned 46 states that their elections are in jeopardy because all the sabotage DeJoy and Duncan have wrought on the service means they might not be able to handle all the ballots in what will likely be a heavily absentee vote because of pandemic. States are suing and House Democrats are exerting what pressure they can

on DeJoy to restore the functions of the USPS.

YEAH. Good luck with that. All of those fkrs need to be LOCKED UP.

US Postal Service worker: I saw mail processing machines dismantled

The carriers are the beloved face of the Postal Service, as they should be, and an icon of our proud history. But as a mechanic working to keep them on their routes, in August I witnessed a scene I never could have imagined. My co-workers on another shift began dismantling at least three mail processing machines. They didn't want to do this, they told me; they just had to follow orders.

While there is less mail being delivered this year, those machines process over a million pieces of mail a day at my post office alone and were always in use.

When I asked them what they were doing, they told me that the area was going to be rearranged. I later found the machines behind the processing plant, dismantled,in a huge scrap metal dumpster — uncovered in the rain.

Later, Postal Service leaders said they paused these changes, but I don't expect the machines to ever come back. That’s a hard thing for a mechanic, or any caring person, to see.

TRUMP AND CO'S SABOTAGE OF THE U.S. POSTAL SYSTEM IS TREASON. LOCK... THEM... UP.
