Just curious how everyones doing for the holidays, personally x-mass has got me stressed out, if i see one more jewelery commercial that says because he loves you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssss much i`m going to tap out.
I`ve got a 14 year old step son that we spent over 300 dollars on this year, and that`s just one person in the family.
It`s not just the gifts that are costly though, it`s the packaging of the gifts, the cards, the decorations, i could have bought a motorcyle with all the money i`ve spent.
Ok, so i sound like the scrooge, don`t get me wrong i love x-mass, it`s just so damn expensive.

I pretty much hate the materialism of Christmas anymore. I have convinced my family (parents and siblings) to quit spending money on presents and gift certificates, and instead we take a family vacation outside the country. Instead of blowing thousands of dollars on crap, we spend it on a vacation that we all enjoy, have great memories, great food, and great laughs. This year we took our vacation during Thanksgiving so I will be spending the period at home by myself...which sucks big ones. Next year, we are definately going somewhere for Christmas again...but in the meantime I cant wait till January 2nd. I really think Christmas has become a commercial bonanza, and has lost a lot of the meaning it had just 50 years ago.

I agree, it seems to be more commercialized, that`s a great idea about taking the family on a vacation, i hope you have success with that.

We don't buy or make anything so there is no monetary costs and my wife gets stressed by the commercialism and the family hype that she never experienced.
