Wow doesn't the title look a lot more serious that some of the other ones in this forum. Well, it does say infections on the forum description so I might as well hide my shame and post it here!

Around 2 months ago after having sex with my girlfriend I developed a rash on the head of my penis known as 'balanitis'. I researched on the Internet about it and apparently daily washing would cure it. Which, I'm glad to say, it did! However, a couple of days later I began developing smegma (lovely word :)). How many times have I came into contact with smegma before in my life? Hmm, maybe once or twice, but after washing, it never came back. For some reason, this time around the stubborn stuff keeps coming back. It'll be back by that night if I've washed it that morning. I noticed that if I washed down there every 2 days then the smegma was there to a less amount, or non-existent, but.. if I was daily (as recommended) I produce a lot more of the stuff.

I spent a bit of time researching the 'net again and came up with the answer that I had indeed contracted a yeast infection from my girlfriend, and while she sails off to the doctors and gets treated and cured inside a couple of days, my problem lingers..

First off, I'm probably too ashamed to go to the doctor's about it, and I'm not too keen on a 'physical examination'. So, over-the-counter meds is my only option. I bought Canesten Thrush Cream which apparently would be the answer to all my problems, but after applying it twice a day for two weeks, I'm still at a loss on how to cure my problem.

Please help :frown1:

Assuming this is serious....

Go to the damn doctor. Get some Rx creme and make sure your girlfriend is completely cured of her yeast infection before she has sex again. That may mean waiting a few weeks before you can have vaginal penetration. A lot of times couples continually cross-infect each other each thinking they're cured when they're not.

Yeast gets around. When you change your underwear, wash it in hot water with bleach or use the sterilize cycles on your washing machine and dryer. After you pee or touch your penis, wash your hands in hot water with soap. Use an anti-fungal creme around your crotch to prevent spreading. Your GF should do the same. If each of you follow this regimen and the instructions your doctor gives you with the appropriate meds, you'll both be clear of this.

If you want to save money on a Dr visit pick up some non prescription vaginal yeast infection cream at the drugstore and follow label directions. If for some odd reason it doesn't go to the doc.

I'm sorry to hear about his fate, but a teeny part of me is a little relieved.....medical professionals have told me for years that yeast isn't passed from women to men (and subsequently on to another woman).

Just another reason to use a condom (remind for those of us not in LTR!)

Well Doctor S7V3N, maybe trying to cure yourself with an internet diagnosis is not the way to go.

Time for a second opinion from a real doctor.

If the initial diagnosis does not respond to standard therapy the way it is supposed to then either the diagnosis is incorrect, or it is correct but there is some factor which is present which is preventing success.

The doctor does this as a job every day.
So you had sex with your girlfriend.
Wish I could have.
I wouldn't be embarrassed.

My penis is too important and I like it very much.
I would not let it rot away producing stinky smegma while I tried home remedies.
Doesn't your penis deserve the best treatment you can provide?
Yes! And that means a trip to the doctor.

Let me save myself some time by repeating myself with a cut and paste from my advice from someone with a similar problem:

Penis has a discharge that doesn't go away! :ugh:

What should you do? :dunno:

Think:rolleyes: Think:rolleyes: Think:rolleyes:

Maybe an infection?
Parts are tender? :eek:uch: Ouch.

I have the answer. :thinkerg:

A doctor! :fing02:

You could have thought of that, :pat:.

Now when?
Next week? Next month?

No - now. :drive:
as fast as possible :slomo:

Maybe you are worried? :sad2:

Scared? :scared:

Embarrassed:08:?

Exams are no fun.
They make you take your clothes off and bend over. :booty:

You can go somewhere that they don't know you.
Go in a disguise :sombrero: :smokin: :reporter:

Don't worry - the doctor won't tell your mom.:shhh:

The doctor won't call you a sick pervert :tapedshut:

You'll feel much better in the morning.

Hey Man!

Antifungal creams will work to cure Yeast Infections BUT you also need to PREVENT them from happening and the best way is to start a regular regimen of PROBIOTICS (available from Health Food Stores). Probiotics work to kill the yeast infection internally and that's the best way to prevent it from returning. BTW this same fungus causes athletes foot and jock itch so taking PROBIOTICS will prevent these problems as well.

GOOD LUCK!

RICKY_27

PS - Probiotics are NOT and overnight cure. It may take at least 30 days before you are completely cured. Tell your GF to use Probiotics as well and that way you will both be free of discomfort.

Viginal candidiasis is a well-known disorder as its typical curd-like vaginal discharge and itching, however, candidiasis in male is usually asymptomatic and as I know, the white patch-like skin manifestation is very rare. In oral thrush, which is usually prevalent in infants and toddlers, the patch is easily found on the buccal mucosae. No matter either one, the causative organism is a fungus called as Candida Albicans.

Generally, the eradication of fungal infection is not easy and takes long time.
You'd better see a doctor and be managed by a special care.
Good luck, dude

Thanks for all the quick advice. I suppose my only real option is to go the doctor and get this sorted properly. I was just hoping there was some other way to get rid of it without having to go through the embarrassment of a trip to the doctor. I'm surprised at how quickly you all responded so thanks for taking time out to tell me things straight :).

Hey I got the same thing from my girl back in college and they gave me a couple of pills that cleared it right up in a matter of days. If you and your girl are still sexing... you may want to stop a couple of days because we gave it back to each other a couple of times.

The doctor also told me that the crems the women use can work on your penis to get rid of it. I personally prefer the pills.

I have recently started getting yeast infections whenever I take strong antibiotics. Just go to the doctor, they have seen it before. They will give you a perscription for oral Diflucan, which is the same stuff the doc gave your girlfriend. Typically within 3-5 days the infection will be gone.

Now if you should happen to get a yeast infection and it has been some time since your last fuck, get checked for diabetes.
