:yikes: Stacy, Stacy, Stacy! Where have you been? You never stop taking an antibiotic until there are no pills left. To stop and start like you did is how antibiotic resistant strains of strep, and other bacterial infections are created. :frown1:

Next time you are prescribed an antibiotic ask the doc for diflucan at the same time. Most docs wn't even ask why as they know that the majority of women get yeast infections from antibiotics.

I agree 100%. When you request the Diflucan also ask the doc about taking a probiotic. Antibiotics are great but they kill both the bad and the good bacteria. Many of them do a number on me so taking a probiotic is a must.

Exactly.. Ask for Diflucans and take Lactobacillis. Since you cant take dairy before the antibiotic is through take the lactobacillis and then when it is through eat yogurt. Do EXACTLY what the doctor tells you or you may develop a systemic yeast infection which is hellish to combat.

Good point Joybunny, I take 4,000 units of acidophillus daily it really helps with my IBS. I get mine from Trader Joe's.

Not to be alarmist, but I just wanted to add that sometimes herpes can be mistaken for a yeast infection. I always take the opportunity to remind people to insist on a blood test for herpes when they get an STD test.

Nah, Stacy's clean. Unless she's developing a really really terrible version of shingles! Good reminder for the herpes tests though. I've had my bloodwork done once a year since I went vegetarian and along with vitamin/mineral levels, I get my thyroid checked and a test for STIs. It's as inconvenient as getting a PAP test but sure worth it if they do find something!

This is good to know. I was just taking a acidophillus while taking antibiotics but I never thought about it for IBS. Mine isn't consistent and seems to only be around the time of my period. I'm going to have to start stocking up. Thanks!

I heard wearing G-strings causes yeast infections. Try to wear shorts as underwear. And don't douche (lol)

You may want to ask the doctor about a different antibiotic that doesnt give you irritation or tough it out like everyone else does

Don't have a cooch, but used to have a girl friend in college who did and still does have one. She had a recurring problem with yeast infections (this is back in the mid 1970's before there were drugs such as Monostat). Her general routine for itch reduction was to douche with white vinegar diluted with distilled water. Seemed to help immediately and for most of the day keeping the itch away. And that's really all I know about cooch-ology, except one should really go to a good gyno specialist. Preferably a female one maybe? Just a suggestion.

Oh yea, and I forgot, men can harbor and infect both women and other men with yeast infections.

I don't think I've ever said this before but you have the greatest posts!

Absolutely love the vinegar and water combo. I usually keep some of the pre-mixed version on hand just in case I get that "not to fresh feeling" lol! You're right it will put down that itch until a woman can make it to the doctor.

Cooch-ology....ROFL

BUMP!

update on my yeast infection...

after being super stubborn about going to see a doctor, i finally went in for an appointment and got things taken care of. it was the old creepy gyno again... remember, the one from my super old blog? ::shudders:: i almost farted on him again, OMG! lol... that's another story though.

anyway, after i posted this thread, i got an OTC yeast infection supository of monistat and put it to use. things seemed ok after i used it. the itching had gone away, i wasn't as irritated anymore, and there was no more redness. however, a few days after i thought i was out of troubled waters, i started discharging blood! it was NOT good. i researched everything i could find about bloody brownish-colored discharge, and of course making like a hypochondriac, i diagnosed myself with vaginitis, pregnancy, and STD infected, all while being on my period. but of course that was just me being silly and paranoid.

when the old creepy gyno checked me, it wasn't as weird, but still weird. his hands weren't cold like they were last time. but his teeth were yellow like i remembered and his hair was like... gawd, i don't even know how to explain it. anyway, he gave me a pelvic exam and swabbed around. it turns out that the monistat supository didn't completely get rid of everything like it thought, so teeny bits of the bacteria were still lingering around!

the funky discharge was a result of the yeast infection and the blood added to that as well. i'm not on my period though, but the yeast infection was bad enough that it pretty much made me discharge gross yucky blood along with my regular discharge. oh i also got a pregnancy test and STD test btw, which is standard in these cases i guess. i'm not preggers, thank goodness! on the other hand, i don't get my STD tests back for another week, but i know i'll be fine since B's the only one i've been with since my last screening.

moving on... so after i got dressed, the gyno came back in my exam room and said i'd have to take a single pill, which would do the trick. so far it's been working. i'm a teensy bit itchy at the moment, but i'm feeling soooooooo much better than i did 2 weeks ago! the irritation is gone, the gross discharge is beginning to fade, and i'll be ok to have sex just in time for valentine's day. yay!!!

i have to admit i learned my lesson. i shouldn't have been so stubborn about finishing my antibiotics, and i should've gone to get things checked sooner! you can all bet that next time my pussy's itchin' i'm going to the doctors--even if he is old and creepy!

That twinge in your intestines
I cannot believe this thread is even here. It's embarrassing. Why do we need to know about your YEAST INFECTION???!!! Do you really believe it's something that needs to be a matter of public record? I don't.

Your cunt is nasty. You neglect yourself. I get it. Asking for help is one thing, but the OP was just a whine about something that would appropriately be kept private. Why advertise it?

Because this is a great place to talk about yeast infections? There are a lot of women and with the added cloak of anonymity on a site related to big dicks and the orifices they penetrate, it's perfect.

It wasn't really a whine. Maybe the OP got the courage to go to the gyn from the replies? She had such a terrible visit with the gyn last time that I'm honestly surprised she was talked into seeing him again! *pumps fist in the air for Stace*

Also, this thread is a great reminder for people who like to call our hoo-has "flowers". Cuz they ain't

flagyl good stuff for yeasties. Check blood sugar.
might not be yeast after all.
One way to test is with flour. Yeast will make the flour rise. Can raise scones in your cooch?
Men for some reason don't get yeast connected to the junk. I suspect Smeg and yeast are related.

i have nothing to be embarrassed about. first off, it's a women's issue. if you had an itchy vagina, you would understand. we women aren't afraid to ask each other these types of things. if i was afraid and embarrassed, i wouldn't be asking. besides there are plenty of men who post in other sections of the forum about irregular things that occur with their penises, and if other men have experienced those things as well. i don't see you telling them they have nasty cocks and they should keep their issues to themselves. it's no different than me posting this thread.

If any one wants to avoid getting a yeast infectrion three things you need to do is: cut out sugar completly in fact every one should avoid it, stop drinking dairy from cows switch to goat or sheep dairy instead its way healthier for you, avoid processed foods & foods & drinks made with yeast as much as possible.
YES MEN can have yeast infections in their penis too the simptoms are itchy burning rashes on and around the penis, painfull urination & painful burning sensation durning sex. not just the genital area can be infected with yeast, yeast can infect the whole body

Candiditis or yeast is present in everybody's body. When something puts the skin or body out of balance, healthy bacteria vs. yeast, infections occur. Athletics foot is a form commonly known. I had an infection in my crotch where my shorts rubbed and not enough air was there to dry the area. There was an area of open sore red rash that oozed. Home medications did not help. My doctor gave me an ointment that helped but did not cure. He then gave me a month-long perscription (expensive pills) and that stopped it. It took some time for my skin to return to normal.
