YMCA's and showers

Wellhung, that mainly only happens in the movies, and when I say movies.. I really mean porn.

If you don't know the guy, there will be no grinding / sharing of a shower head. I personally do share showers, however, this is because I'm a hockey guy and I'd be sharing with a teammate, and we shower daily together. But even this is rare, only if your in a rush.. otherwise, fucking wait 2 minutes.

I think only the US has YMCAs. We don't have that here.

There are tons of Ys here in Canada and in many other countries. I used to go to them but have found better venues now.

My Y just moved to a new location, and it's gone from all open showers to only stalls with curtains. Less fun now, unless you can get someone to join you in the stall.....

my Y is one of the new family facilities here in the maryland burbs. The mens shower room has about five stalls and one or two that are handicap accessible. I wish they would have kept the gang showers from the old building. I mean, Im almost 24 and I dont see how other guys my age and younger can workout and just leave. Are they not running errands or going to work after the gym? I have to take a shower and plus, after being all pumped up and sweaty I like to strut my junk down to the showers. Kids these days dont understand how fun it is. I wish more guys would just take showers, but as discussed before its a generational thing because we never took showers in middle or high school p.e. , and i went to a public middle school and a private high school, so i saw both sides of the fence. on my high school football team, I specifically remember taking a shower after one game, but we kept our under armour on and it was more of a "yay we just won, lets have some fun" kind of thing bc one of the coaches jumped in, and even he kept his shorts on.

Of the ones I've been in over the years in the Dallas area, they were all large open tile rooms with shower fixtures scattered through out. Ages between 2 and 82.

is it true that with those type of gang showers that you would have to share a spout with at least two of three guys and that it was not that unusual for a naked buttock to press up against another guy's ones and that no one thought the wiser because you all needed to be under there at the same time ? It just amazes me, someone who has always showered in separate cubicles or curtained off shower stalls, how guys did this back then and no on batted an eyelid at just how close contact you would get with another guys ass.

I'm wondering how old you are, because I grew up with group showers, including "Bradley" showers (Four guys around one pole). It was just the norm. I fuckin loved it. I hate individual showers; they're totally pussified.

my Y has both. An open shower room where ppl can shower as a group as well as about twelve individual stalls with curtains. Although no one really uses the curtains as they cover nothing and there is really no point

Our Y has 2 branches. The old Y has group shower room with shower heads on the wall I think 8 or 10 heads. The newer branch (a failed spa that Y is renting) has single stale showers. I usually go the newer one because their natalus, hot tub, etc. is better. However, I think I like the old ones shower better but I get worried someone is going to turn me in for getting aroused. Our Y is a very traditional "Christian" organization so no chance of nude swimming.

I belong to a couple of gyms, and I work out at the Y sometimes. It recently underwent a massive renovation, and interestingly, the open gang style showers were left in tact. I prefer open showers, and I believe most the guys who work out there do also, gay or straight. There is no place to hide, if you're bashful, but maybe the shy guys just don't work out there.

open gang showers at my Y. There is a larger gang shower area with 5 heads on each wall, 10 total. There is also an adjacent shower area with 3 heads. This is more of a disabled shower area since it has handrails and a 'shower chair' but no curtains!

If you ever visit Houston and can make it to the Downtown Y, go for it. There are two shower areas that are gang-style. I visit it whenever I'm in town.
