You banned Flashy? Seriously?

Sometimes there is a huge hate group that lays low and they all get their friends to report your post, even if they didnt read it or wasnt even offended by it. If they don't agree with you, especially your politics, some people will stop at nothing to get the person making those opinions thrown out. It happens all over the net and in politics.

Much like Flashy, MR and I have rarely (if ever) seen eye-to-eye. Yet I agree with this post whole heartedly.

Expect a fully linked and quoted post tomorrow, when I am at the top of my game. In the meantime, all's I'll ask is "Have you no shame?" I'll just say that I find this action not just beyond, but deeply beneath contempt.

Not really. In fact, it's pedantically tangential. Nobody here is arguing the point that a temp ban follows a warning whenever the nannies decide to spank someone. It's the fact that Flashy was sanctioned as a result of his public posts at all, which appears to be the case, that many are finding quite contemptible.

If you don't dispute that he already had two warnings, and you say that nobody argues that a temp ban doesn't follow a warning (two, in fact) ... then it makes no sense, to me at least, that you should take exception to his being sanctioned after a final abusive outburst.

I agree with everything you wrote except the last sentence. I would be really surprised if it was behind the scenes. Not his style.

I read that thread about oild spil. Talltpaguy started a thread, did three posts, then someone else. Then flashy posted something which seemed a bit angry but entirely to the point, wasnt attacking anyone or anything like that. Then came two more posts one by silvertrain and one by talltpatgut attacking flashy personally and accusing him of trolling.

I have no idea of the history, but at face value in this thread Flashy had posted nothing irrelevant or attacking anyone.

There is a lot of provoking going on in the politics forum, i've been talked to the exact same way by a few over there for my opinion. If you even try to explain your point of view, its easy for the other side to start calling you all sorts of explitives. If indeed Flashy got banned for that, then the other people doing that should be banned over the same stuff.

The only difference is, i could take it and apparently others couldn't handle it from Flashy. Despite the insinuations of the quoted post, I have contacted no one (moderator or otherwise) in regards to the thread in question, Flashy, or anything related thereto. I have "reported" no post in regards to that thread, Flashy, or anything related thereto.

I was not aware of any banning until I saw this thread.

Regarding why hasn't this happened to the two who provoked him I am surprised that people still don't get it.

Say all three got an initial warning. Nobody but the recipient would see it.
One reins himself back but the other two don't.

Now say the remaining two combatants get a second warning. Again, nobody but those two would see it.
Another reins himself back but the last doesn't.

If the remaining one continues in the same vein after two warnings he's going to get a temp ban. This everyone is able to see.

Maybe the reason the other two didn't get banned is because they dialed it back just in time. Is this not just as possible or more than the assumption that the mods targeted a single person?

Flashy should learn that the best way to get back at those people who piss him off is to ignore their posts. I had that happen recently at another site and it pisses people off more to ignore them and not acknowledge them. They love it when you get riled up.
