...some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time."

And you can never fool a person like me who just doesn't give a shit either way.

If I thought much of more than 30% of people on the Internet then the fact that 70% are lairs and fakes would probably bother me. As such is not the case, it does not.

Carry on.

Love it and Hungmark,

Dr.BUbbles has been a part of this group for over 5 years .There are a number of people who in one way or another were touched by her presence here. Whenever a well loved and very vocal member of the group leaves we want to know what is going on. THis has become for lack of a better word a sort of family. I think the majority of pleasant responses show that people are concerned for her and her husband. But I do think at times that people feel pressured to "build themselves up" to get attention. That is my .02 worth for whatever that means...

OK...

Well, I will admit I am a fallible human being and am able to be fooled. But it happens . I think one of the reasons people fake is that they probably feel if they were their real selves they would be invisible. Some think hatred is bad, no it is indifference that is the killer. We just have to try to be nicer to each other...

... and they're usually right about that. 95% of the human species is a waste of biomass. which makes their feeble posturing and mindless monkey chatter all the more irritating.

call me old-fashioned, but i ain't gonna make an effort to be "nice" to someone who doesn't interest me in the slightest. my time is a little more valuable than that.

I was actually recently fooled by a pretty regular poster here... what was sad was that the person didn't realize that they were actually VERY engaging, and that I would have been quite charmed EVEN IF they had not totally pretended to be someone/something that they were not. I think that all of us can mask our insecurities in our online personas - I mean no one here really knows EVERYTHING about anyone else(including...ME) - only what they choose to let us see. It's sad to me that people think so little of themselves to be for real...?:frown1:

BTW, you know who you are, and I'd still be your friend...

I'm kinda glad that I don't feel as hurt by this recent faker as I did with others from down the line. Thank the stars that we only talked minimally and maybe once or twice over the phone. Didn't give me much room to get attached. But still, that's crazy, isn't it? You think you know someone; you start to care about that person as if they were a real-life friend down the road. And then, they turn about to be nothing at all like you thought. It's really a shame.

I don't know if we're even talking about the same person, but the thing that saddened me really deeply was the thought that the person I'M talking about must have felt so badly about themselves that deception was the ONLY option for them to feel affirmed. Yes, really a shame.

Hi everybody.

May I suggest we allow "our old friend" another 24 hours to post a general apology to the people of the LPSG community. If this is not done, I will explain the situation further tomorrow.

Fair enough, but there must have been some deep hurt that caused this individual to do this - some negative self image, that I honestly have compassion for. Is there really any reason to make it public - i.e. name the person? Like I said, WHO here tells everything about themselves...?

**SAD**

I'd like to second jumbo747jet's suggestion that we allow the person in question some time to come clean on their own. I think it's totally inappropriate for any of us to be "naming names" without giving people the opportunity to speak for themselves.

I've had a parallel experience Signor Spiruccino. But I find many need to learn the "hard" way (no pun intended). Oh well. It is the internet after all. No need for details I guess it's just that Lex's initial post is so cryptic it begs the asking!

That said, has anyone ever told you that you look like Simon Rex in your avatar! Very nice indeed.
