We had this in both counties I live in... and now I hear/see this is a national online presence. Your county and/or state probably has their own website to look up money owed to you.

It's fun... plug in family and friends, and claim a finder's fee (or a beer, as most amount are sub$50).

It is interesting to check into. I was on a jury last year for three weeks over this issue. As I suspected all my money is in the bank and under my sofa pillows.

I usually check these sites when they're on the news. I never find mooney but found some for a nephew.

Same here.. I have the California one as a deep bookmark. I never find anything, nor expecting it... but after I posted it, I found a recently found friend of mine who is due 1,000 shares of IBM, might be an accounting "hangnail",... but if it winds up being certificates waiting for home... I've requested Morton's and one bottle of cab on him.

Otherwise, it's fun to see/find out that Cingular/Sprint/Nextel/CellularOne owe you $5.72.... and make them spend the $40 or so on manpower hours just to retrieve it ;-)
