Josh Riddle and David Rufful (white conservative rappers whose rap names are Serious C and Stiltz) are Dartmouth freshmen - and they call themselves "Young Conservatives". At first, I got frustrated and bitchy listening to this "conservative anthem" -- the lyrics made me cringe: My conservative view is drill baby drill You can say you hate me but I'm praying for you still.... AIG was hooked up by Chris Dodd A classy gift ain't an Ipod... (an Ipod is what the Obama's gave the Queen before the G-20 London Summit) -- but, on reflection, I suppose the song IS kind of inventive and smart-alecky and pleasantly in-your-face (I think I really just want to bend these studmuffin guys over and fuck the Reagan "conservative" right out of them; that's the "drill, baby, drill" I'm talking about). YouTube - Young Con Anthem The lyrics are plainly not parody: Three things taught me conservative love Jesus, Ronald Reagan, plus Atlas Shrugged Savin' our nation from inflation devastation On my hands and my knees prayin for salvation * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
My family have been legacies at Dartmouth for four generations. I refused even to apply. You wonder why.
yes, I can see why: The goals of Young Conservatives, recently dubbed "Young Cons", is to promote constructive debate and tolerance. Rather than bashing viewpoints that deviate ideologically, the purpose is to make both sides of the aisle think critically about their respective political and moral beliefs. Young Conservatives (man, think I'll be playing them on my Blackberry, all week, everywhere)
In this video, there's a shot of the Soviet Hammer and Sickle with the word "SOCIALISM" under it. Why do conservatives use the words communism and socialism interchangeably? The hammer and sickle are part of communist symbolism. Those tools are symbols of the industrial proletariat and the peasantry coming together, the union of the industrial and agricultural workers. An emblem of the Bolshevik Revolution. The hammer and sickle have nothing to do with modern socialist countries. Yet, in this video, the conservatives make the hammer and sickle stand for socialism, because conservatives want Obama to stand for socialism.
Maybe their stated goals will work their way into his weasel brain if he plays them over and over for a week. Hopefully "constructive debate" includes being truthful.
Do you really think that? Or do you you just agree with them? Because in past threads, you've been pretty damn critical of rap.
Yeah, there is nothing I enjoy more than listening to the political manifesto of two 18 year old Ivy league freshman.
And lurching further to the right wing religious looney category. Until the conservative movement realizes that religion shouldn't be a part of the current philosophy/requirements they don't have much to offer me.
Hmmm. Just what the culture needs. A couple of conservative Beastie Boys, rapping about Guantanamo Bay, Miss California, Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged", the new capital gains tax. I think Adam Lambert has a much better shot of making it onto Billboard's Top 40 Single's Chart.
