Arcade Fire: Funeral

Police: Synchronicity

Radiohead: OK Computer

Joni Mitchell :Blue

Pink Floyd ; Dark side of the Moon

David Bowie: Rise/Fall Ziggy Stardust

Beach boys: Pet Sounds

Crosby Stills Nash Young: Deja Vu

Nirvana: Nevermind

Led Zepplin:

Stones: Exile on Main Street

Clash: London Calling

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue

Dylan Highway 61 Revisited

Honk: 5 Summer Stories

Most of these I just found at Costco for $10. I bought every one they had and loaded them in the parking lot.

I hate to be a scold but the music from a generation/half ago just kills the shit today. Death Cab, Strokes, Arcade Fire are OK, barely, but most stuff today is dreck.

No wonder old fossil bands are kicking ass in concert and the new shit just dries up.

Today's music sucks.

Edit: forgot to include

Hendrix :Are You Experienced

Robert Johnson: King of the Delta Blues Singers

New Kid In Town - Eagles
Bullwinkle II - Centurians
Coast To Coast - Scorpions
You Got No Right - Velvet Revolver
Planet Queen - T. Rex
Laserb'last! - Fu Manchu
Killing Floor - Hendrix
Blue Orchid - White Stripes
Instinct Blues - White Stripes (fun to listen to Jack White ape Robert Plant)
Watch Me Jumpstart - Guided By Voices
Incomprehensibly Yours - David Candy

B side:

Neon Lights Glow - Swervedriver
Blue Monday - Flunk (New Order cover)
Take Meta Mars - The Flaming Lips
Beauty Lies In the Eye - Sonic Youth
I Can't Tell You Why - Eagles
Teenage Wristband - Twilight Singers
John Thomas On The Inside Is Nothing But Foam - Telefon Tel Aviv
You Are Chains - The Secret Machines
Chinese Firedrill - Mike Watt (featuring Frank Black)
T-Birds - Blondie
Sea Song - Doves
Round The Bend - Beck
Haddon Interlude - Time Cone (AKA Druggie - drone/shoegaze project of mine from 1992)

I have a cassette adapter for those who bring iPods along...

New School

Snoop Dogg "The Blue Carpet Treatment"
Charlie Wilson "Last Name Wilson"
Late Gerald Levert "Do I Speak For The World"

Right now I got the new self titled Wildhearts album in mine. Best thing they've done since PHUQ by a clear mile, excellent album.

Great list! At any given time over the last year, my vehicle would have been stuffed with a combination of all of those heavy discs. I've played the shit out of Mastodon's new masterpiece.

My mustang has a stereo radio with cassette player, and my glovebox is stuffed with cassettes, mostly 70s and 80s stuff: Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Slade, Eric Burdon, Beach Boys, Nancy Sinatra, Eagles, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Diana Ross, Glenn Frey. The Audi has a 6-CD-changer, but only 3 slots are occupied, by the CD's of abovementioned artists. I won't give a title list, there are just so many; the tapes are what I cut together from CDs and records.

Jesus - I am such an old fart and I'm not even 40 yet. Not only am I the only one with any classical music, I haven't even heard of any of Dee's bands

You know what's really sad - I was a bloody guitarist in "alternative" bands. Sorry Peelie.

I don't personally own a car - no need to in the city (although that may change soon). The car that I most often drive and have access to plays an iPod. Instead ofthe iPod ear plugs, I have a mini "sound-out" cable that connects the iPod to the an insert pin for the radio/CD player.

So, the real question is, "What on my iPod"?" Some of the more recently-played songs are:

  • Linda Eder from Storybook - "One Bad Habit", "Is this anyway to fall in love?", "Till you come back to me"
  • Marvin Gaye - "What's Goin On?"
  • Philip Glass - 3rd Symphony
  • Chicago - Greatest Hits Albumn i.e. "Does Anybody Know What Time it is", "Color My World", "Saturday in the Park", "Beginnings"
  • Stevie Wonder - "Summer Soft", "As", "Sir Duke", "Part-time Lover"
