A pithy retort.
My statement, while outwardly puerile, illustrates philosophical views about the futility of achieving perfection.

The thread is about an "idealized" situation, not about experiential realities.

missbec illustrates my point in her original post about her "idealized" life, and I quote, "Oh, and sex would be close to perfect...".

FWIW, my life is already close enough to perfect that I don't spend much time worrying about how it could be better. But I guess it wouldn't be all bad if my mom were to die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

Also it would be pretty sweet if I met my female equivalent. We'd love each other. It'd be great.

Well, there ARE a lot of refineries in Texas. Pray harder!:biggrin1:

I still fail to see what your 'point' may have been, apart from stating the fucking obvious.

Missbec employs the conditional voice in order to describe an idealized situation.

Gripping "philosophical" insight.

My perfect life? I think that John Lennon describes it best:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Well, as Ranch Manager I think my life is just about perfect. Only two things could make it more perfect:

1) the right someone to share it with (until death do us part)
2) more time to spend with my horses and to go to horse shows

Someone? Sorry to be cynical but what about the other 50%? Something's gonna suffer unless it's a he/she.

In my perfect life i would be married with my present gf, and we would live in a big country house, in the green, with our kids.

I'd have cats and dogs in the garden, as well as fruit trees.

I'd be successfull in my pofession withou forgetting what is really important in the life: love, honesty and commitment.

Don't you know that those critters will destroy your garden? Otherwise carry on mate.

Pretty much the one I'm living except I'd get to have sex with anyone I wanted (Alba first) whenever I wanted without ever hurting anybody else (wife) or catching an std.
