Orca - I was seven years old when they showed this on TV. I didn't watch much further than when they washed the whale fetus off the deck but that was enough. I convinced myself that I couldn't sit or stand still or the whale would come up and get me from under the floor. I was attached to my father's side for the rest of the night.

No other film has managed to rouse the same level of paranoia in me since.

And we can't forget The Omen...

But how about Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? I saw this as a kid at home alone late at night and it scared the wits out of me...still disturbs me to this day when I watch...it's pretty much of masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.

I don't often get scared in movies at all. Poltergeist really disturbed me, but I was only 4 or 5 years old when I saw that movie originally. I laughed my ass off during The Exorcist and The Blair Witch Project. Thought Hostel, The Ring and The Grudge were all far more stupid than scary. Enjoyed Alien, Silence of the Lambs, Scream and The Shining... but none of them were scary. Can appreciate the contributions to film made by Jaws and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre... but again... not scary.

As an adult, the only film I've seen that kind of creeped me out was Fire in the Sky.
Oh yes The shinning. I actually had a nightmare after watching this movie.

No other movie got me the The Exorcist did, one truly frightening movie to me. Carrie also gave me the creeps as well as the original Halloween. In fact most of the 70's movies were downright scary.

The 80's two movies got me, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Rent "in a glass cage", German with english subtitles. I won't spoil it for you but please rent it if you liked the other film you were talking about.

I didn't say that I liked it. It was really shocking and frightened me in a way that I'd not like to be frightened again.

Another good horror film is Happiness for the Katakuris. It's about a Japanese family who open a bed and breakfast, but all of their guests die horrible deaths. The film style is something similar to the part of Kill Bill Vol. 1 when the Bride meets the Crazy 88's. Super violent and bloody.

BTW, I absolutely loved American Beauty...but Magnolia was pretty scary. Especially the part when it started raining frogs.

Oh wow, How can I forget about that movie, The Omen (the original 70's movie), whew, that give me bone chills as well. What was it about the 60's and 70's horror filims, all of these films still are thrillers today, today's horror filims are just about gore and violence, that just gross me out but dont give me chills like the horror films of the past did.

The first time I saw Halloween was at a friend's house across the street. My brother was there too, and everyone there was a lot older than me. I got this sick feeling in my stomach as the movie started and I think I ended up going home. I must have been about 5. Now its my favorite movie though.

IT kind of shook me up a little bit, but I was reading the book as well in 5th grade and the book, or the books cover, may have contributed more to me being a lil shook up, that fucking clown stare on the cover...I used to leave the book face down because the eyes would just follow you...Since I have grown I can't think of one movie that has scared me, unfortunately...

I have to agree with Halloween too. I still look in the backseat when I get into a car.

Gory slasher flicks don't really scare me. I get grossed out, sure, but usually they just rely on "jump scenes" - designed to startle you so much you jump out of your seat (or at least tense up or scream).

Halloween wasn't actually gory at all (in fact I think there's only 4 murders, including the prologue). And while it had its share of jump scenes, it really relied more on dreadful atmosphere. Absolutely terrified me as a kid and still creeps me the fuck out.

The original The Omen with Gregory Peck is without a doubt the scariest movie I've ever seen. :scool::scool::scool::scool:
