Opeth
Pink Floyd
Marillion
Iron Maiden
Dream Theater (cheese and all; their musicianship is insurmountable in the hard rock world)

I'm obviously a metalhead and a prog rocker.

EDIT:
YES!! I knew there had to be at least one other person on this board who recognized their sheer awesomeness. And I'm not even a death metal fan. Opeth simply makes beautiful, unique music. I'd call Blackwater Park the pinnacle of metal's aesthetic validity. It's a tossup between it and Marillion's Misplaced Childhood for my favorite album ever.

How in the hell can you call Depeche Mode and Daft Punk groups? One "band" is a dude with a bunch of keyboards and a singer... the other one is two guys with various electronic gear who sing through a vocoder.

Why don't I just say that Brian Eno is a great band?

Honestly, most of the bands on y'all's lists aren't all that awesome. It's pretty damn disappointing.

Of course, I enjoy Depeche Mode and Daft Punk just as much as the next guy... I flipped out the first time that I heard "Sexy Boy".

Oh my God New End... I checked out your Spanish bands expecting to rock out 'cause you are a smart guy... and they are TERRIBLE! Yikes!!!!

Snobby twat.

Would you be happier if we all said "The The" (because of track 12 on their third nondescript and wholly unmarketable album) and stuff?

1. Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys.
2. Prince and the Revolution.
3. Kraftwerk.
4. The Art of Noise. (Trevor Horn is a genius... his work with ABC is par none)
5. Chic.
6. The Bee Gees.
7. KC and the Sunshine Band.
8. Level 42. (I like their one good song)
9. The Rollins Band.(classic line-up right? End of Silence era?)
10. Cocteau Twins.
11. Any Orchestra that plays Aaron Copland and Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov. (Damn if those aren't in my top five favorite composers.... you have such excellent taste)
12. The band members that played on Antonio Carlos Jobim's original bossa nova tunes. I love bossa nova.

I shortened your list for ya... God damn that is some good music you've listed there. Stan Getz did all of that sweet ass sax playing on those early Bossa Nova recordings. Here is the rest of the players:

Keter Betts - Double Bass
Charlie Byrd - Guitar
Bill Reichenbach - Drums
Buddy Deppenschmidt - Drums

Charlie's brother Joe contributed some bass playing as well. It was a typical Creed Taylor production over at Verve records. They recorded in a building adjacent to the All Souls Unitarian Church because of the excellent acoustics the building had. There is no better place to record sensitive acoustic instruments than the right church.

Getting the Beatles together again would require the rest of them to die. Seeing how two of them are deceased (John Lennon and George Harrison). That leaves Ringo Starr and McCartney.

BTW, maybe add Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band, even George Thorogood and the Delaware Detroyers ?

Ha ha! Smart has nothing to do with taste in Music. And yeah, most people that would hear Hocico would hate it. It is music of hate. The other ones aren't Spanish, One is French, one is Israeli, and two American, I think.

But I find the Rolling stones and most radioplay repulsive. :p
