Another thing to note, in case you did not know, HOSTEL WORLD website is the only one with a filter to apply MALE DORM - under room type - this will make it easy when booking, i then also check tripadvisor for the hostel name to check out photos of the bathrooms and complaints from other guests - about showers not being private enough - this is where you get your real info!

Correct. I use Hostelworld app along with Trip Advisor app to see the real photos/comments. In London I stay in YHA Central London- all male dorms.

Any recommendations for Venice or Naples

if you don't mind staying right outside of Napoli, Fabric hostel in Portici (7km from Napoli city center) is really good.
Never been to an hostel in Napoli, but friends who stayed there said that Hostel of the Sun is great, and is very central.
Also, if you plan to stay in Salerno, Ave Gratia Plena is a great accomodation as well.

Some hostels just have curtains.
Others are full cubicles.
Some cubicles are too small to get changed in.
Hostels like One 80 Berlin guys complain about no curtains or dividers.
Reading reviews at Hostelworld gives you a heads up what the showers are like.
