Speaking of the fabulous Mr. Everett quark- did you ever see "The Comfort of Strangers" with Rupert, Natasha Richardson, Christopher Walken, and Helen Mirren??

Fuck man.. it's one truly frightening movie. It's old now (1990) but I just rented the DVD. The scenery of Venice is stunning and the movie's just as dark and foreboding as I recall. And of course "Another Country" with a deliciously young and tender Cary Elwes and Rupert Everett is just a great film when one needs a big dose of English private school homoerotica without renting Harry Potter  :biggrin1:

Then of course there's the Merchant Ivory film "Maurice"... what a classic.

Woops, sorry didn't mean to hyjack the thread.

I've always assumed, EnglishGentleman, that your accent's not unlike Eliza Doolittle's father in "My Fair Lady" or perhaps a bit like Benny Hill.

Am I far off??

If you ever watched BBC news in your time over here, I'd have fitted in quite well as a newsreader. Very Neutral, very English:biggrin1:

Oh you ENGLISH MUFFIN!

I knew full-well you had "Il accento generico" mon ami!!

I was pulling your leg...

However I'm totally taken by the Cornwall accent I heard in a movie I just rented "Ladies in Lavender" with Maggie Smith and Judy Dench. The maid was played by this gal named Miriam Margolyes whose accent (if truly Cornish) is something straight out of "Mutiny on the Bounty". It's SOOOO different from the accent I knew in Oxford and at Henley.

She's not Cornish, but she's a very talented actress. Plays good character parts and is pretty authentic.

I'm told I sound alot like Ian Holm, the guy who played Ash, the android/science officer on the Nostromo in the first Alien movie.

He's well known as an actor over here, but I can't think of any other movies he's been in.

Like the new Avatar btw.

To contribute to the thread... If I woke up tomorrow and looked like the brit actor Chris Eccleston - soon to be seen over there as the re-vamped Doctor Who I wouldn't be too disappointed, despite his big hooter! Lot's of character & charisma.

There is something about British men that I find so attractive. I have no idea what it is, but they totally do it for me. My top 5 British Men:

Rupert Everett
Clive Owen
Alan Cumming
Pierce Brosnan
Craig David

So, is there anything out there on these amazing men. Plus, please share your favourite British men, I think we will get one hell of a list going on.

Ciao.

To be a trifle pedantic, Alan Cumming is Scottish and Pierce Brosnan is Irish.
Some British men strike me as being totally sexless.
Witness, Hugh Grant and Stephen Fry !

to be even more pedantic - scotland is part of the british isles so mr cummings counts as british.

Indeed, don't ever conflate "british" with "english" or you'll upset lots of scottish and welsh people.

Of course "Great Britain" is not the same thing as the "United Kingdom" either ... work that one out.

I think you have missed some sexy English stars.

Jamie Bamber in Battlestar Galactica (2005)

Matthew Goode in Chasing Liberty

And if we say British stars how about James McAvoy in Children of Dune.

BTW a great movie for British hunks is Bright Young Things.

When I used to live in Los angeles a couple years ago (01 back to the early 90's) Rupert Everett was a frequent patron at a sex club on Beverly Blvd. ( I can't remember the name any more) that I think is still there, I don't know if he is. It used to be alot of fun. ah the god old days lol.
