That’s not a fact. A number of North Africans consider themselves Black. We do not know his genetic make up. Zed’s lips are talking! He could very well have a large percentage of Sub Saharan DNA.

“A number”, “a large percentage” — what a highly subjective choice of adjectives.

This is not the hill to die on. I could just as easily make the argument that “a number” of North Africans go above and beyond to distinguish themselves from “Subsaharan” Africans to the extent that many will deny that they are even African because to them African means “black.” As a matter of fact you’re more likely to encounter that than you are this “number” who do claim to be black.

I mean at this point it’s pretty clear that the “Urban, Southern African-American male” schtick is a costume or maybe even an accessory for this young man. It’s what sells.

He is not black. I don't know why people are trying to deny this shit. He is Maghreb/Arab. African doesn't always mean black.

Arab is not a race; it’s an ethnolinguistic group. One can be a Black or Afro-Arab. Just like Hispanic isn’t a race. You can be a Black or White Hispanic/Latino. People from Tunisa can be of sub-Saharan decent/Black. You do not know Zed’s parents. I’m not calling him Black per se, but he can have Black ancestry.

I don't think anyone claimed he couldn't have black ancestry at all. The issue is he doesn't pass as black. When it comes to race (as a social construct) it's all about perception, and he doesn't look Black. Period.

Cleary, you aren’t following the conversation. To look Black and to be Black are not always linked. Zed clearly has some African features (his lips being one, I’d say) Africa is the mostly genetically diverse continent on the planet. I am the last person to call anyone Black (esp in America) just because they have a small percentage of African DNA. I never said Zed was Black. I only said he has Black African ancestry, and shouldn’t be saying the n-word.

"lips"? are not a unique feature to people of African descent? Isn't that a bit racist in and of itself to assume? ffs dude. anyway....His ancestry isn't freaking written on his forehead. It isn't totally irrelevant but it also isn't that relevant either in a social sense.
When the cops pull him and Ray over, they only see one black man sitting there (and will be likely more prejudiced to him moreso than Zed) We need to operate in functional reality here.

Genetic differences are racists? So if someone says my hair is thick and curly, that’s racist? Wtf does that have to do with oppression and superiority? Full, thick lips are a common phenotype of people of African decent, that’s a fact.

Right, his ancestry isn’t written on his head! So htf would you know?

Zed is NOT predominantly European, so he’d be looked at as Black or Brown regardless.

He wouldn’t be looked at as black or brown in America either if he wasn’t pretending to be in one of the most stereotypical ways possible. At least from a social aspect. On paper he is most likely classified officially as white just like most North Africans and most Latinos. There is no such thing as “brown” when it comes to race in the US.

A better question at this point is whether or not you’re black.

I couldn’t even respond to that foolishness. As if every African had big lips or better yet as if Subsaharan African isn’t one of the phenotypically diverse areas of the planet. I have no idea why that user is trying so hard to make Zed black when he is not. He’s even tried to ODR the dude and now we’re making assessments based on lip thickness? By that same logic Zed’s hair makes him not black. When trying to sound “smart” goes wrong.
: unamused:

Anyway, the US Govt. classifies North Africans, Arabs, Middle Easterners, etc. as WHITE. That’s all that needs to be said. This scamming ass mf Zed gets to slide in and out of blackness like it’s a glove and you got black dudes out here reaching for straws to make and argument as to why this dude might be just a little black.

You clearly have trouble reading!
Full, thick lips are a common trait with people of African decent. Common does not mean all. Nowhere did I say “all”. Next time, quote my direct statement if you argue. All and common are not synonyms.

I’m the one who brought up the genetic diversity of Africa in a previous post, hence the reason you cannot say someone is not Black because they don’t “look it.” You fumbled on that one. Don’t try to make it seem like you out here dropping knowledge when you’re repeating what I said.

And yes, I am Black! Have always been Black. Always will be unapologetically Black, all mf day of my life. My parents are from Nigeria, my dude! Don’t talk to me about Africa from your American perspective. Just because the US classifies you in a certain way (and you take it as gospel), doesn’t mean that’s how the rest of the world sees it.

Alls I said was Zed possibly has Sub Saharan DNA, given his phenotypes. He’s from Tunisa! Afro-Arabs exist! Phenotypes exist!

You don’t know Zed’s parents. How you perceive him is your business, not his! Zed is clearly not African American, and I never once thought he was, nor am I trying to make him out to be what he’s not!

Next time, come correct with your facts, and stop letting the US government indoctrinate you on race.

Now wtf is the one trying to sound smart. Uncultured ass!

I can read very well, thank you. I know what common means and I’ve quoted TWO of your direct statements. The topic of discussion is not whether or not big lips are common amongst people of African descent. The topic of discussion here is you suggest that Zed must have some Black African Ancestry simply because of features like lips. Anyone who has a basic knowledge of genetics knows how stupid that argument regardless of whether or not Black African Ancestry is present. It’s even sillier when you consider that his lips are no fuller than people who can be found in parts of Asia and Latin America with little to no African ancestry at all.

I’m the one who brought up the genetic diversity of Africa in a previous post, hence the reason you cannot say someone is not Black because they don’t “look it.” You fumbled on that one. Don’t try to make it seem like you out here dropping knowledge when you’re repeating what I said.

Yet, you’re sitting here questioning my reading comprehension. Sure. You’re telling me, “you cannot say that someone is not Black because they don’t “look it” right after you’ve argued that he isn’t “white” because he doesn’t look it and that he must have black ancestry because he does “look it.”

Oh, okay.

And yes, I am Black! Have always been Black. Always will be unapologetically Black, all mf day of my life. My parents are from Nigeria, my dude!

A shame, and this is how you act? Btw, would you like a cookie or biscuit for having African parents?

Don’t talk to me about Africa from your American perspective. Just because the US classifies you in a certain way (and you take it as gospel), doesn’t mean that’s how the rest of the world sees it.

I will talk you about whatever it is that I want to talk you you about. Zed is in the United States. I am in the United States. The market that Zed caters to is in the United States. Most people questioning his identity are in the United States. We are discussing the way he is perceived by who? You guessed it, Americans. It’s not gospel, it’s context. Actually, that wasn’t even a factor until I joined the conversation today so I need you to do better.

Alls I said was Zed possibly has Sub Saharan DNA, given his phenotypes. He’s from Tunisa! Afro-Arabs exist! Phenotypes exist!

He just might or he might not. Either way, someone as smart as you are trying to pass yourself off as would know better than to make that argument based on something other as baseless as lips.

You don’t know Zed’s parents. How you perceive him is your business, not his! Zed is clearly not African American, and I never once thought he was, nor am I trying to make him out to be what he’s not!

Sigh. Didn’t this conversation start because you replied to someone who stated that he wasn’t black to make it known that he was Tunisian, North African and not “just white.” Think about that. Your response to someone saying that he wasn’t black was, “Zed is from Tunisia; he’a North African. Looking at his facial features and skin, he is definitely not “‘just White.’”

No one had even implied that he was white. Multiple people said that he wasn’t black and instead of agreeing and moving on you decide to chime in and state that he is North African. You then double down and go on to make this argument about us not knowing his genetic makeup and explaining to us how his lips suggest that he has black ancestry.

The short version of this is that someone said the man wasn’t black and your response was to start a frivolous argument about him possibly having African ancestry (which does not make one black). Make up your mind my dude. Which is it?

Next time, come correct with your facts, and stop letting the US government indoctrinate you on race.

I mean it’s fact. For official/statistical purposes the United States Census bureau would classify Zed as “white.” His drivers license most likely says W unless and probably checks white on forms unless he’s just that serious about his urban cosplay.

Now wtf is the one trying to sound smart. Uncultured ass!

I’ve probably seen more of the world than you ever will but go off. You sound mad bro.

@DruZo

Notice the number of users who don’t agree with u by the lack of ppl who like your comments.

As a non native of the united states, i agree that your perception of race is flawed because you are following race categories based on the united states, which is NOT how the rest of the world sees it. You have a very limited, American perception (based on what u write). We dont see race the same way you guys do in america, and people from other parts of the world don’t see it that way either.

Zed is not from america so you can’t put his race in context of america.

I have been told that i am not black by many black Americans even though i associate mostly with black people. My ancestry is mostly african (im from latin America), but most people just put me in “hispanic” (not a race) category because of my light color and hair. But i do have clear west african features. In my country we have a name for people who look like me, which does not exist in America.

u should listen to people who have a broader perspective who are not from america or whose family is not from america. We don’t see race like u do. no one is arguing that Zed is Black; in fact, he looks like some people in latin america.

Bruh. Shove it. Likes and “agreements” don’t mean a damn thing on a website like this. Every corner of the world has its own construct of race. I am well of aware of that. Like I said, I’ve probably seen more of the world than two of you combined but that has nothing to do with this thread. I wouldn’t go to whatever country you’re from and apply American categories to people and I wouldn’t apply your standards on people in America.

Zed lives in America and caters to Americans. It only makes sense to discuss how he is seen BY AMERICANS IN AMERICA though an American lens. He’s not in Tunisia or the UK. He’s in the US cosplaying as a southern African American and the irony of it is that most people on social media (many of who happen to be American) have automatically assumed that he was black until shown pictures of him before his transformation.

It would also behoove you to go back and read the conversation from the beginning cause you clearly don’t understand what’s actually being said. We’ve all agreed that he’s not black. That was never up for discussion until the idea that he was “nowhere near black” was challenged by the poster you are attempting to defend. The poster who then proceeded to tell us that Zed’s lips suggest that he has black African ancestry.

I don’t give a damn whether or not people think that you’re black or whether or not you identify as black. That has nothing to do with the topic of discussion.

Wait, u had sex with Zed??? How was it lol. Message me

Haha...expensive! I actually wanted to request a night with Ray, but they never escort in the same town.

The sex was good! I rarely use Rentmen but the vibe is cool with many of those guys.
