Just as it blows some people's mind to hear that our need for sugar consumption is zero (your liver & kidneys generate enough glucose to power the brain in the process known as gluconeogenesis), it may blow your mind to hear that your need for fiber consumption is also zero. This is because the body can also make short-chain fatty acids out of meat fat and bone marrow in addition to making short-chain fatty acids from plant cellulose. This was the breakthrough discovered by Phinney &Volek. That is why some people have done the meat-only thing for years and are still alive and well. And their bodies have become "fat-adapted", which means they burn fat for energy instead of burning carbohydrates for energy. Ah the human body, and its many multiple-pathways. No wonder we are so good at survival.

Dr. Atkims died of what ?

His diet was shit, his lifestyle was shit.

Eating chicken, rib eyes, fish etc. is a lot different than eating bacon and eggs for every meal. You can't lump stuff like this. I can list you low fat vegans who dies of heart attacks. Shit happens.

Traumatic brain injury. (Slipped on ice while walking to work). That rumor that he died of his diet is just that, a rumor started by opponents of his diet.

Hmmm....looks like they also conspired to alter his autopsy report:

"publication in The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday of details from Dr. Atkins's confidential medical report. The report concludes that Dr. Atkins, 72, had a history of heart attack and congestive heart failure and notes that he weighed 258 pounds at death."
