Dr? or Chiropractor?

OK So on Sunday I went for a long walk and then came home took a shower and went to bed. It was a tossing turning night of sleep. And I woke up with a sore back. I slept on it wrong. Just a bit of stiffness and tenderness. I thought nothing of it. Ahh it'll go away in a few days, no biggie.

This is day number FOUR and it hasn't gotten any better yet. It's actually gotten worse. Hell I can't even move 4" in any direction without a pause to allow the muscles to adjust in my back. It's so bad it's like my back has dry heaves whenever I move.

SO I can go to my regular doctor probably just give me some muscle relaxers (I've never had them before) or go to a chiropractor who possibly can snap, crackle, pop me back to normal.

Which should I go to?

(Oh and I have limited internet connectivity at the moment. Silly ppl cancelling net service!)

Muscle relaxers are to me the biggest joke. They take 3 to 4 days to work. I go between PT and chiro. I can't go to chiro because of disc degeneration but it always worked

Be careful. I'd see a doctor. If muscle relaxants don't do it, you'll need x-rays. I made one wrong move last year and 10 months later had to have surgery. If I'd seen a chiropractor, I might have been in much worse shape. Of course, if you have had exactly the same problem before and a chiropractor has fixed it, then you should be fine. Just be careful!

A chiropractor would be my choice. Get one recommend by someone you know. Mine has put me back together so many times I've lost track. Ask him for specific exercise for your back because they will do a world of good. If I had gone to the doctors for my back problems I'd have several fused discs by now. They wanted to do the the one time I went to see them. I said "no way", went to my chiro and he had me back at work in a week.

Ok, vince - point taken  lol. However, while I saw a chiropractor for years, in this case, he could have done serious damage had he manipulated my spine. That's why I recommend being careful. The pain I had last year was different which is why I went to a doctor instead of my usual chiro. All better now with full hip movement!

See a doctor first and see if they advise physical therapy or they have a particular chiro they work with. Chiropractors run the gamut from brilliant rehab professionals to absolutely negligent quacks and unfortunately more fall on the latter end of the scale.

This is of course true of any profession, but the dubious roots of chiropractic tend to attract a lot of baloney

Defiantly chiropractor neck just went out Tuesday finally got to see my chiropractor tonight feel so much better yesterday so much pain I didn't want to live,

I think the pinch lessened and I still went to a chiropractor, DAMN did I pop LOUD. far louder than I remember when I used to go to one. It wasn't so bad, and that traction bed... I win the lotto I'm getting myself one of those! ahhhhhhhh.

Thanks for the input guys and gals!
