Yet CURIOUS; all those penises (penii?) appear circumcised, but apparently during WWII the Japanese capturing Americans and forcing them to strip were amused at the many circumcised American men--believing the circumcised penis appeared smaller and less "manly" and childlike. Circumcision apparently is extremely rare in Japanese society.

So WHY is all the statuary circumcised? Made ESPECIALLY for prurient interest of visiting Occident tourists?

Oh. "It is bad manners (kawa kamuri ??? ? "excess skin") to leave the foreskin forward when it might be seen, in the bathhouse or at a medical exam."

So not even a HINT of "rolled back" foreskin. "Courteous" to avoid showing "excess skin."
