Aaron Thread?

the Republicans aren't taking away gay rights
They’re certainly taking away trans rights. Also, the Republicans refuse to vote for the Equality Act. In many states, you can still be legally fired or discriminated at work for your sexual orientation or gender identity. That is definitely being against gay rights.

Some of you gays are so ignorant. SMH

These gays who are so easily willing to forgive him wouldn’t be doing so if he looked like disgraced Senator Larry Craig.
Well I'm still pissed at Larry, because of him the airport restroom was remodeled and now you can't do any understall action with fellow travelers. I use to frequent that restroom when I traveled and got lucky sometimes. Lol. Kidding.

But seriously I don't know anyone who is mad at Larry or even remembers him. I think it's the opposite, gays are going to be pissed at Aaron because he is a handsome guy and they can't understand why a guy who looked like him with his "privilege", didn't come out earlier in life to help the cause.

I’m not pissed at him for not coming out earlier in life to help the cause. I don’t expect gay men who are private citizens to actively help the cause whether they’re attractive or not. Whether they want to help is up to them. I’m pissed that as a public official he used his platform to actively hurt the cause. This isn’t rocket science.

which equality are we missing?

Are you dense or just have your head buried in the sand? In over 30 US states its still legal to be evicted from housing for being lgbt, its still legal to be fired for being lgbt...and now we have GOPers in several US states actively campaigning for regulatory changes to allow lgbt folks to be denied child care, to be rejected for adoption and to be rejected as foster parents simply because theyre lgbt.

Yes, he’s both dense and anti-trans.

It’s more the amount of people who grow up in the exact same situation and don’t go on to try and ruin the lives of people they’re ashamed of being. “You hate him cuz he’s hot hur dur”, no, we dislike him because even now he’s just reaching for pity and not acknowledging any damage he actively contributed to.

Instead of acknowledging, apologizing and moving on he’s just hiding behind a bunch of other rich homos that will still associate with him. They then act like they have no idea who this mystery man with them in photos could be. Fuck Aaron Schock’s stupid ass. He made the choice to go into politics and do the shit he did.

He was able to pass for straight and fool much of the American public for many years. Many, if not most, gay men aren’t able to do that.
This is a misconception, being able to pass for straight just means his struggle was different, not easier. He still couldn't be himself. As someone who can "pass for straight" I envied guys who I thought couldn't. They got to be themselves and didn't have to tell people they were gay. Yes, they are more likely to be a victim of a hate crime or discrimination. I lived in fear of being outted to my family & friends, because of their view of me being straight & it never crossed their mind I wasn't. So I did things I didn't want to do & I thought were wrong to keep that secret, never anything on the scale of Aaron. Once I was out then was the worry of how I might be treated, and feeling the need to tell people who were in my life frequently so to avoid awkward situations, like a coworker trying to set me up on a blind date with her friend, lol.

I'm not saying or arguing one struggle was harder than the other, just different. I can respect and honor both.

But did you put yourself on a national lawmaking platform is my point most people before coming out of the closet have some forms of lashing out but closet anti-gay republican lawmakers are sadistic and evil.
