I agree with everything you said so true. In the gay community it happens all the time when it comes to good looking gay men. Even in the straight community as well but it's more noticeable in the LGBTQ community.
Yup with Aaron being a key example of that.
He waged war on the community he is a part of while in the closet for power and yet so many fawn over him like it didn't happen because he has abs.

I personally have never "fawned" over him however I would hate fuck him until his tiny little head pops off.
I don't think people are ...fawning... over him but he has a lot of intl. friends, connections, and followers that chiefly has to do with his access to wealth first, his abs and appearance second. If he didn't have the access to wealth he's accrued and utilizes, he'd probably be just another upper middle class (at best), fit, annoying, local Gen X gay living wherever, spending too much time on Grindr, secretly using Groupon, and whining about how it isn't summer yet.
The line to hate fuck him until his tiny little head pops off is quite long.
