This doesn’t really seem like news to me because it’s already been known for some time that they “hang out” together. When I read “gay actor” I thought it would be someone I hadn’t already heard of. And seems this Eliad Cohen guy is just some vapid party boy who doesn’t care what your values are as long as you’re musclebound and attractive.

No, you guys are letting him off way too easy. He went out of his way to be anti-gay and vote for anti-gay legislation while he was in Congress. He needs to do more than just apologize. He should be working with the Trevor Project or The Human Rights campaign to make amends.
If he were ugly and/or out-of-shape, I doubt so many gays would be willing to accept and even embrace him. He should be ostracized and a pariah in the gay community until he apologizes AND works to make amends.
Also, unless he had no idea who Aaron is, Eliad Cohen is now canceled. It’s gross how many gays are willing to give Aaron the time of day just because he’s hot, muscular and white.

Aaron Schock is one of the worst kinds of humans imaginable. Think of how fucked up of a person you have to be to do what he did. He is a sociopath, and that is being kind.

Just because somebody likes to party and (probably) do drugs doesn’t make them a bad person. But hanging out with scum like Aaron Schock does, if he did so knowing who he is.

It would be one thing if he was simply “not coming out” but he actually helped with legislation targeting other gay people. He can save those white muscle boy tears.
I don't see an apology for his anti-LGBTQ voting record, or a commitment to rectifying that by supporting LGBTQ organizations. That's all that matters at this point.

I'm not going to defend him, but while muddled and decidedly not the best statement, I think he should have provided less familial context - "my family wasn't open" - and a call to action - "I plan on donating my time/money/energy to [...]" - and the statement would have been stronger. Then again, he's not in politics anymore and doesn't have a speechwriter or copy editor.
