I'm a fairly inexperienced guy when it comes to sex but being of an inquisitive mind I wanted to try giving my girlfriend at the time cunnilingus. While making out and getting frisky I made my move, but before I could move into position I was stopped. Twice, with different girlfriends.
I didn't hassle them more with why not at the time, but I was always wondering.
I tried asking one of the girls at a separate time, but she sort of tried to dodge it. Saying 'I don't know' and that she was 'too shy/embarrassed'.
I mean, cunnilingus is pretty much solely for the receiver and it's not like anal that can hurt alot.

I'm just curious and confused, can any of you ladies provide any additional insight? Thanks. :)

Sorry for any grammatical/spelling errors, English is not my native tongue.

You write like a native speaker.

Some women are shy or embarrassed about it because they grew up believing it was dirty. Some women feel that way for other reasons. Some women simply don't like the sensation. Some women don't want to with just anyone.

I was really way too ticklish to enjoy it at first. I just kept at it because I knew/hoped if I could just get used to being kissed, nuzzled and licked there it would feel really good. My first boyfriend shared my enthusiasm for exploration and growth, so that worked out.

When I was young and sexually inexperienced I was quite resistant to the idea. Looking back (a few decades ), social conditioning about cleanliness did have a lot to do with my discomfort. It took my first serious boyfriend a lot of patience and gentle reassurance before I agreed to it. He genuinely loved doing it and that was very helpful for me getting past my uneasiness. He also really wanted to learn how to please me and encouraged my honest reactions and directions.

So, while I find oral to be nice but not mindblowingly orgasmic, it's simply because of how my body works with clitoral stimulation. More pressure than a tongue can give is just more pleasurable for me. Women can have different requirements but curiosity, communication and exploration are great ways to find out.

I'm most certainly not afraid of it. It just feels annoying.

I in general don't really like oral, so that's always an option too.
