I lived for a number of years in Palm Springs California. I left that area permanently in 2008. One of our roommates was in fact HIV sero-positive and did not have an automobile or drive. I can tell you that there were many familiar faces at the same MD's offices and they were HIV specialists. Many of those faces were at the time working in that industry. I can tell you also that we were good friends with many men who were either still working or retired from tenure in that area of the entertainment biz. A few of the more famous ones were dealing with a great deal more than HIV, and these men were still in demand and receiving offers. Most of those that I knew declined these offers repeatedly. The business is not a nice business and while some production companies insist on good precautions and care, there are others who do not. Safety with STD's in the porn industry is possible in some cases in others it is not because of the transmission routes of the infectious agents. I have nothing against porn in any manner, but if I were looking at doing this I would want to meet and have some real conversation time with any actor with which I would be having sex, and that is for certain. If I were in that position, I would not trust what some studio person said, I would want to hear it from the actor himself because that has legal teeth.
