Hypothetical question. The new guy at work wears an Apple Watch and you notice the clockface/background is set to a Pride Rainbow pattern. Do you think:

1. He's gay and is letting people know in a subtle way.
2. He's straight and just likes rainbow colours
3. He's straight and has downloaded the background to show support for an LGB friend or family member.
4. It's probably a used watch and it came with that app already.
5. It's just a watch, get on with your work.

I think as far back as I can remember if anyone wanted to know I was gay. They can just ask.. I didn’t care if they approved or not …

I figure if my parents accept me for who I am and family. As well .. that’s all that mattered.. as for friends.. don’t have many.. and if the friends I did have couldn’t accept me for who I am .. screw them..

Now I got the gay pride watch band.. both ears pierced— which straight guys do that now to..

But wearing these colors gives false since of security.. as straight me wear them to because like the colors.. or some guys wear them so they can find and bully others wearing them that are gay

2. He's straight and just likes rainbow colours - NO, unless he's really clueless what it means.
3. He's straight and has downloaded the background to show support for an LGB friend or family member. - UNLIKELY, that would be a really strong act as an ally, I don't think they would go that far.
4. It's probably a used watch and it came with that app already. - NO

My two cents. I wear the Apple Watch but I have the rainbow band instead of the background. It's my (not so) subtle way to state I'm gay. If I personally saw anything rainbow on the watch, I'm assuming they're gay. I'm on the board of a Pride group in my area, holding the traditional Pride events. We have lots of allies, but the most they would do (if anything) on a typical day to day thing would be like wear a super discreet pin or have like rainbow shoe laces, something that doesn't really stand out. They just want to find that balance of showing their support while not being misread. Only on Pride day do they go all out.
