Are briefs/skimpy undies associated with being gay?

Men simply started being self conscious where in the past that just wasn't a thing. Regardless of how you might personally feel about it, modesty was for women, men were expected to get over shit and get on with it. Be proud, not care. The amount of hangups we've developed since is staggering

I'm a white male westerner but I've never heard of it being associated with being gay. I'd sooner associate briefs with being a little boy lol but not gay.

Hello everyone, I will start with an apology I am new to the western world, hence this question, so pardon my ignorance

but I was quite shocked to hear from so many of my Caucasian friends (male/female) that only gay people wear briefs (as some saw my briefs while changing), firstly I thought it was a joke but over a period when I heard such comments from so many people (only Caucasian though), then it made me wonder if it is true that white people associate briefs/tangas/etc with being gay. I have never heard about this correlation ever in my life.. so thought I would ask here as it looks like a safe space. And I asked them if women's underwear size is also associated with sexuality, and they laughed, saying "not at all, why would it be" so I am really confused..and I will wear what I like but I am interested in hearing what's the logic behind this correlation for men but not women? to add to the confusion, all of my white gay friends wear boxers or boxer briefs, they say briefs show too much, which means not all gays wear briefs, so i am confused why this correlation then?
I have always been athletic playing Soccer, Baseball and Wrestling in school, so I always wore a jockstrap. Now I am an avid runner and ride a bike, so I still wear a jockstrap because it supports my nuts and cock from flopping around. Some people may think wearing a jockstrap is "gay" perhaps because of the colors and styles. For everyday, I like "old school" Calvin Klein "Tighty Whities" because I finds they fit and support me the best.

the style of underwear being associated with being gay i would say no. but brands yes. so like if i see a guy in andrew christian i'm more likely to assume he's gay in a bikini then if hes wearing a mainstream calvin klein.
