I didn't get an erection during basic training. Somebody brought it up in conversation after about a month and nobody could figure out why. Openly?? And yet they don't want gays in the military! It always amazes me that str8 guys can have sex with each other and it's kewl as long as they're str8 (military guys, frat dudes, jock teammates, etc) but a gay guy participating ruins the vibe for them. The only way I've ever been able to rationalize that is -- If it's all str8 guys it's a male bonding thing and just "getting off" but if a gay guy were to enter the picture then you have the elements of affection and emotion being introduced (or at least the potential is there) so it becomes threatening and the sex stops. What interesting creatures humans are.

In the navy and in subs, your choices were pretty limited. The bunks have curtains, so have some visual privacy, but you can pretty much figure out what the other guys are doing when it isn't snoring. After you've been underway for a while, some of the guys can get a bit lewd, flopping it out at the slightest provocation. One guy I new liked to show off his "snake skin wrist watch", it wrapped around his wrist easily, with room to spare. There were a couple of instances that I am aware of when guys took it too far, in both cases they were kicked out of the service (Don't ask, don't tell) One case involved two sailors locked in an office space together. After they were caught, one tried to claim rape. The other guy was married too. They both got the boot. In another case a group of sailors where blowing off steam in the bunkroom having a circle jerk. They were caught when the towel they used to clean up belonged to someone who wasn't part of the fun. I don't care who you are, waking up to find that on your bath towel is just plain disgusting.

The US military sanction brothels on their big bases in Iran and Afghanistan; usually serviced by poor Asian women. I am sure the locals who live nearby think this is all very enlightening. Educate Afghani girls but bring ones from Thailand to fuck. It is a moral choice of the generals, but I am glad to say that the majority of servicemen have some ethics and do'nt exploit women. No they do not. I don't know where you get your information from, but you are completely wrong. To the contrary, it is against THEATER policy to have ANY sexual contact with any Third Country Nationals. It is generally frowned upon for servicemembers to have any sexual contact with another servicemember, and is a highly, and often, punishable offense to be cought with a member of the opposite sex in your room while deployed.

Does stuff happen? Occasionally. But there are NO "sanctioned brothels" there. Sounds like someone told you some mess.

I know it has been a while since any one posted on this thread but I need to share. I was in Iraq a few years ago. There were a few hookups btwn guys and girls but there are too few girls to go around and of those few girls there were fewer still that would put out. They got a slutty reputation. I'm sure there was gay sex going on but since I don't follow that scene I have no knowlede on that. There were a couple of gay guys there that would stare at us while changing. Also since it was so hot there we would often walk around the tent in just ou underwear and would sleep or nap above the covers somtimes guys would fall asleap during the day and pop a boner. We would kind of laugh it off but the gay guys would openly stare. It made the rest of us uncomfortable but we left it alone.

There was a lot of porn mostly mags (however it was forbiden). There was also a lot of masterbation. I never witnesed it in the open but if you caught or heard someone doing it you just ignored it. Later we set ut a jerk off tent were we had porn taped to the walls and a bucket. If the door was closed it was ocupied do not enter. Only rules were, one at a time, and clean up after your self. Often there would be a line.

I am in the Army, I'm an Infantryman and have been deployed 3 times, twice to Iraq, and once to Afghanistan, and am going to be going back to Afghanistan later this year.

In basic, I didn't even get a hard on until like week 4, there are all sorts of stories about saltpeter in the eggs, but in reality you are just so tired your body does'nt sum up the energy for it until you get used to the level of physical activity. The first morning you get wood is great though, you wake and and feel WOW it still works. I would jack off in the latrine late at night in basic.

When I lived in the barracks I jacked off all the time when my roomate was gone, and more than a few times when the lights were off and he was there. If you had female company coming the rule was your roomate hung out somewhere else while she was there.

While deployed, being Infantry we never really had any female soldiers around, with the rare exceptions of times on larger fixed bases, which didn't last long, or when they would come to bring us supplies, which again, doesn't last very long. I personally never got laid while deployed but I know guys who did. Jacking off happened wherever privacy was available, and sometimes where it wasn't, most guys just turn the other way.

I never personally knew of anyone who had a male to male hookup while deployed but I heard rumors about a few, who knows in an Infantry unit we have rumors for every occasion. When I was at Ft Lewis I hooked up with civilian guys but always off post, same in Germany. Haven't found any guys I wanted to hook up with at Ft Campbell.

There have been MANY of my fellow soldiers who I liked, but I was never willing to take the risk of trading my career for a piece of ass.

And by the way, there are no sanctioned brothels anywhere in the world for military personnel. Even in Germany, where prostitution is legal its not legal for US service members. Does that mean that soldiers don't go to brothels? Of course not, it's one of the many unenforceable rules the Army has.

Yeah a friend of mine, whom I can't even begin to respect enough made it through his six weeks of Marine's Basic on Paris Island. Now he's straight, but in describing the Basic process mentioned that there were a handful of recruits that were "obvious," but that was not a factor at all because,as his drill instructors kept reinforcing, the key to success in the Corps is teamwork, and as long as you know you can rely on the man next to you, that's all that matters in the Corps Brotherhood. I think that's great and the epitomy of service at face value. However, the military is on the verge of dropping the don't ask/don't tell policy, and in a perfect world that would be great. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world, and people take this seriously, particularly in a hyper-masculine setting such as the military. Honestly, it's just best to leave this one alone cause it's worked for two decades.
