Anyone been to the Bahamas recently? Is it gay friendly? Which hotel, were they OK with 2 guys in a room? Probably silly questions but I know nothing about that area . Thank You

On the resorts, I dont think they care (at least not to your face). Get a room with two beds and use one if you're worried about maybe getting treated a bit less than best by the staff. Off the resorts, I dont think it's very friendly.

Like, I would not walk around holding hands in Nassau or snuggle on the beach.

Exactly. I've worked as a chef in a resort in the Bahamas before for a time. The staff is certainly not gay friendly behind the scenes. If there are gay guests around, you hear f slur this and that spoken in the back of house where the cooking takes place (my co workers are unaware of me being queer). I just keep quiet tbh to avoid trouble

So to OP just like Simon said you can go, you likely won't face any violence or verbal abuse in the touristy areas or the main capital. But you should certainly not draw any unnecessary attention with PDA of any kind just to be safe. Remember the Bahamas is like over 90% Christian

The place is beautiful though and once you are not seen as openly gay/trans, the people are very friendly

I would consider a more gay-friendly nearby paradise, shockingly, that’s Cuba . Locals all know Raul Castro is gay, surrounding himself with beautiful military men. There is strict anti-discrimination for gays there, with a national day of celebration where all are expected to attend and be fully supportive. I was very surprised in my 30 days there all over the country.

Bahamian here, I'm a bit late, sorry. Unfortunately, the comments are true. However, I believe it has gotten a lot more friendly in the recent years. Most people will mind their business and won't say anything to your face. I only run into homophobic people when I go to places in 'ghetto' areas. Which is usually the center of the island away from any locations you'd actually want to visit.
