The EU!!!! No. I think the EU will hold. Germany will make it lol (hasten to add I have a sister and nephew near Frankfurt, a niece near Hannover, and another near Stuttgart, so I'm not anti-German - indeed I've been hankering after barcoded's sausage for days now!)

I've enjoyed sausage from all over Europe, some is tastier than others and some gives complete satisfaction but often when I get the goods home they just don't live up to expectations. Perhaps I shouldn't dribble so much when out sausage choosing.

I remember being terribly disappointed by one German offering whilst on holiday in Rhodes some years back. It seemed quite large on the beach, but it didn't get any bigger when we got it back to the apartment. And it was hard incidentally, just not bigger.
Overall though, the German nation has done itself proud.
I fed on Finnish sausage for seven years, nibbled the occasional saucisson, sampled salami, chorizo, kolbasz et al. You can't beat a good old banger though can you? Cumberland and Lincolnshire are my favourites!

Funny about Rhodes, I enjoyed some good fare on the beach and was impressed by the way it reacted to heat - but it was a good old fashioned Greek sausage. In the main I go for smaller regular sizes then I don't get disappointed, the larger offerings have often just laid there. Now a black sausage isn't to be sniffed at!

Not that much experience of black pudding myself, apart from a Crossroads actor once!
Problem with Greek sausage was that it often had to go home to mommy and could be a bit unhygienic around the rear? Your right of course, no point in having eyes bigger than your belly. Regular is best in the end.
