A DL man desires sexual relations with cis men and trans women out of attraction. It doesn’t necessarily mean romantic feelings, moreso they enjoy the features and pleasure. DL men are somewhere on the spectrum of sexuality and often opt to keep that part of themselves discreet for a multitude of reasons. Their hope is to be able to explore and enjoy themselves without it affecting their “regular” lives.
G4P can share many similarities in terms of being a way to explore sexuality, but it’s done under the guise of “I’m just doing it for the money.” And just like DL men, they can find little to no interest in men but enjoy the stimulation. Others use it as their reason for exploring without have to hide it as much. They may also feel that it’s a safer way to explore because not only can they have the excuse of needing the money but doing G4P requires partners getting tested regularly. The anxiety of sneaking around and catching something lessens a bit. Still there are many guys who not only use G4P as a way to test the water, but as a way to come out.
The best examples I can use would be 1- Melo is straight and bottomed a few times for cash 2- Ross is a straight man who has gay sex for money but enjoys anal stimulation… a lot 3- Jahan explored his bisexuality 4- Saint used it as a way to embrace his bisexuality 5- Beno used it to explore and come to terms with his attraction to men, even eventually dating men.
Basically:
DL- I’m going to explore and hope no one ever finds out
G4P- this gives me the opportunity to explore with a solid enough excuse/ I just want the money.
interesting. i guess a deeper curiosity i’m trying to get at is….. what’s the determining factor to someone who identifies as straight but regularly engage in gay sex whether on or own screen. is it of they only let guys suck their dick, only top, but never bottom. what if they only engage in the opportunity percents itself but isn’t something they seek out. what if they had a gay experience off came before doing G4P. I don’t necessarily think it’s a thing or right or wrong answers. its just purely of me finding this topic interesting.
At the end of the day I think it all comes down to the level of attraction because again, I think sexuality it’s fluid for most people. Labeling people as straight, gay, etc. is a man made social construct that occurred predominantly in the last century or so. Same sex relationships have existed since ancient times in many cultures and sex didn’t always mean something romantic. It was just sex and they had it because it was convenient and felt good. Did it stop them from pounding vagina and falling in love with women, no.
The issue today is that people, specifically men, even more specifically black men can’t openly engage in anything deemed gay or they risk people turning on them, women and communities shaming them, physical harm. So, for most it’s safer to them to do it behind closed doors. And we know it, we’ve either been in that situation or been with someone who has. I’d probably say that at least 70% I fooled around with in college were “str8” and went on to continue dating/ marry women and starting a family. App make it easy for guys to find someone to try it out, otherwise the only chance was to feel the vibes around a guy you suspected might be curious or make a move on a gay guy in your vicinity. One of my BBA favorite’s Ross probably would’ve gone most of his life never acting on his curiosities if he didn’t end up on BBA.
