Bbucko, a longtime LPSG stalwart, apparently passed away last Thursday.
I don't know the cause of death, but Bbucko, an HIV/AIDS activist, had been infected for many years.
He was, imo, one of the better writers that the board has seen. His opinions were completely his own, his debating skills were top drawer, and if you liked him at all, you liked him with your whole heart. His gift for friendship was phenomenal.
Presumably because of failing health, Bbucko hadn't posted on here for a year and a half -- but those who watched him coughing out more than 7,000 funny, wry, pointed posts will have a lot of good things to remember.
RIP, Bbucko.

I'll never forget him. I was one of the LPSG members who was lucky enough to have met him in person. I'll never forget him and he will always be in my thoughts forever. In many ways he helped me see some things in life from a different perspective and made me a better person for it. Rest in peace Bb.

I can not believe this!

He has been on my mind so much lately.
I know this is not about me but this is totally distressing to me.
We had such a great time during my visit to Fort Lauderdale.
And some great talks afterwards....

My prayers go out to his loved ones and those closest to him.
I am very grateful to have made his acquaintance and all too short friendship.

Thank you Conan for letting us know.
If I lived closer I would go to Alibi's and have a steak to honor him.
We lost a great man.

I wish we had more time

Sadly, I have known about this for a couple of days. I didn't want to post it because the cause of death is as yet undetermined and it didn't seem right to raise more questions than can be answered. I will post more when I know more.

For me, Bbucko was one of the people who made this site great. He was a brilliant writer, unflinchingly honest with himself and others, incisive, witty and occasionally scathing. He was also exceptionally kind to those who did not possess his gifts although he suffered fools poorly. He had a wonderful sense of the absurd. His breadth of knowlege was remarkable. He was an amazing teacher but an insatiable student at the same time. As he was always on his toes, so did he keep those around him. And no one could laugh or take quite as much delight in life as he seemed to no matter what the circumstance.

The last time we spoke, soon after we'd spent a week together, he was making plans to relocate to Manhattan this fall. He was ready to begin a new chapter and was excited about returning to the northeast. Painfully, he won't have that chance.

I can't possibly express how I will miss him or what a void his loss has left in my life. Cheers, B.

He was a good person, he was the first friend I made here in the Fort Lauderdale area. We weren't besties but we did go out to dinner on occasion and he came over to my place for dinner a few times, and I had gone to his place(s) too. I finally convinced him that roommates (and his problems with them) was a bad idea and he got a good deal on a really cute apartment right around the corner from Alibi which is on the main strip in Wilton Manors.

We drifted apart and obviously now that it's too late I regret it. It doesn't seem real. I like to think of a world with Bucko in it and we've just lost touch again. I was just thinking about him recently too and wondering if we should reconnect so I can show him my new place.

He was smart and sweet and an all around good guy. He will be missed.

Sad to hear this...

I always enjoyed reading his point of view, and his sense of humor was awesome. He was a talented writer, and although I did not care for his attempts at legitimatizing his bare-backing adventures, I'll miss his posts here.

Peace be with you, bro.

I was thinking about him (and his posts) just yesterday. I can't believe it. I loved his posts, he was always so thoughtful, insightful and inspiring. It's sad to think that he's gone. He was a lovely, kind man - with a brilliant mind. Rest in peace, Bbucko.

Very sad to hear this news. Rest in Peace Bbucko.

He was one of the members here I have the greatest respect for. His intellect, empathy and respect for others set an example for all us. Not to mention he was damn sexy and cool too.

Bbucko RIP

Yes RIP Bbucko
altho i never knew you i did note many of your posts and was impressed with them all, without a doubt.
Hardly a deliberate nasty word spoken that i recall
He may have had a dig at a post of mine ha, can recall, but i imagine it would have been a deserved subtle telling off? ha
and why not!
RIP dear respected LPSG member

I'm extremely saddened to see of the greatest LPSG gone. He was an amazingly gifted writer and thinker. I've missed him so much since he stopped posting here. bbucko may you find happiness and peace out there somewhere.

So deeply saddened to hear this, I had feared our friend was not feeling up to his spry old self since I hadn't seen him on here for such a long time. I'm such a huge fan of Bbucko, his courage and honesty in the face of everything he was dealing with was, and still is, a shining example of character and class.

Such an intelligent, witty, caring, informative and hell yeah, I'll say it, sexy spirit :biggrin1: Always enjoyed the information and insight Bbucko offered on a wide range of issues, you could always count on it to be accurate and relevant.

It's very heartening to see how many of us felt so priviliged to have been touched by him...and how many of us will miss him so.

This is so sad to read. B was the first one to give me some very good and sound advice. I am saddened by this news.
