Is it only in the eye of the beholder?

I think so, yes.

It's such an all-inclusive word I don't quite know how to answer you.

So many things have beauty.

Shall we evolve a new word? Naurture. It sounds a bit New Jersey.

...or for that matter the coast of Cornwall perhaps if you lean into both those "r"s hard enough.

It often happens to me that I find a girl very beautiful and attractive at first sight but when I get to know her, I often change my mind about her beautiness.

That twinge in your intestines
The most beautiful woman I've ever been with was also thoroughly and profoundly corrupt. It's taken me a long time to even get to the point where I could feel anything but contempt for her. Now what I feel is mostly pity.

If that is what beauty is all about, then I want no part of it.

Yes, we do not appeal to everybody.

The great thing to me is natural charms of a person bcause even if we do not find them beautiful initialy, their natural charming ways are a pleasure do have around.

The way people carry themselves is very attractive and 'attractiviness baskets' is very appealing to me.

YOU are beautiful and I've never seen you. So are mercurialbliss and naughty, 'tho I've only seen them in pictures.

How clever: Keats it is.

Saccharin but ever-lovely Keats.

"How kind of you to let me come" (for some reason Shaw's occurring to me just now... :33:)

My own experience with beauty (of the urn variety) I ascribe entirely to my experience with the man who holds my heart. He's even lovelier inside than out.

Had someone asked me if that could ever once be the case when I was in adolescence I would have immediately said "never". I'm happily mistaken.

Yet, there's the story of the face that "launched a thousand ships". One must ponder, were the ships launching to get the hell away, or was this true beauty?
It's all a matter or perception.

Perfect answer, Gisella! I couldn't have worded it any better! Some women have natural beauty and can just throw on a pair of jeans, a T-shirt and pull their hair back in a ponytail and look absolutely gorgeous!
