Bedtime

I have wicked insomnia. It's been a given in most of my relationships that I will be wide awake long after my partner has gone off to Z-land.

It varies. I’ve only lived with two guys and I worked shift work. I tended to go to bed earlier than they did.

We try to keep our sleep/wake schedule similar or the same, whenever possible. Right now it's pretty much synced up, though he tends to stay up a wee bit later than I do.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with 'effort'.

I'm currently in a relationship where she comes to bed 2-3 hours after me (22:00 - 01:00), which is something I'm not used to. She may have a bit of online gaming addiction (although it's denied).

The sex life is okay, and gets squeezed in during the day.

It's a constant effort I have to make in every relationship. I am nocturnal af.[/Q

My partner and I both are heavily, HEAVILY into video games. That's completely unrelated to whether someone puts the effort in to keeping schedules synced up as much as possible...

The OP needs to grow up. If bedtime is the biggest issue in your relationship count ya blessings.

If you are grumpy because of lack of access to her body for pre-sleep sex ya are kind of a brat and a pig.

Again grow the fuck up

We may go to sleep at the same time, but I am always awake hours earlier than he is. And sometimes he won't come to bed until two or three. He's a night owl. Kind of a necessary evil for his job. I'll go to bed sometimes between 11 and midnight.

When I've been in relationships, we've usually gone to bed together, but I've always been up early even though it's against my nature.

I'm up at 5:30 every morning which can be a drag at times as I'm usually not in bed before after midnight. But it helps me keeping my days structured.

I've come to realize something else about our sleeping habits that I didn't mention in my first post.

I actually can't sleep unless he's next to me. I don't think he has the same issue if I'm not in the bed, but I really do have a hard time falling asleep at all if he's not next to me.

We'll wait for one another to get tired before heading to the bedroom. Sometimes if I'm really tired before he is, he'll lay with me until I doze off then get up and go play some video games or something. But generally, we sleep through the night for a good 5-7 hours every night. We usually wake up around 5 am.

I really don't know how I would cope sleep-wise if we had to spend several nights apart in a row. I would probably be so crabby from sleep deprivation...

I’ve never had a relationship where sleep was closely synced, but the effort to have cuddling time pre sleep is made.
I don’t live with my current guy, but we often talk on the phone rather late (on his schedule). That means I might be up late on a work night. But so long as it isn’t consistent, I can do it.
He makes some daytime availability happen to keep it flowing fairly.
