Why Isn't There a Male Birth Control Pill? | LiveScience

Two points:
  • “The biological barriers are nontrivial. Women produce one egg a month, and men produce 1,000 sperm per second. It's much harder to stop that higher production system.”
  • Additionally, the male “pill” couldn’t be a pill at all. The liver breaks down testosterone so quickly that orally-taken testosterone contraceptives don’t work, Amory said. Instead, the medication would need to take the form of an injection or a cream, which consumers find less attractive than a pill, Amory said.

ok so how can I take charge of my own birth control without relying on the woman? Vasectomies are out of the question and 15% of latex condoms break. I'm allergic to latex so the break-rates of polyurethane are higher.

You can get a vasectomy that is reversible, or you can have some sperm stored if you wish to breed later in life.

Where are you gettings your numbers (15% break rate) from? Are you using them correctly: are you using enough lube? Are they the right size? I assume they're not expired...

The guy wears a condom, and the girl goes on the pill... that's how things are if you won't/don't go for surgery.

If you don't want to make a woman pregnant and condoms don't work for you and vasectomy is forbidden you should stop having intercourse. Unless you can rely 100% on the woman taking the pill.

oh no vasectomies are OUT OF THE QUESTION..... it's a religious thing..... circumcision is out of the question for the same reason.... and body piercing, tattoos, lip disking, and all elective surgeries

Find a less backward religion.

PS- chances are, any religion that forbids all that also forbids sex outside of religion and birth control.

Hell, even catholics forbid birth control... not that many of their "believers" pay any attention to that injection.

There are only two effective options for male birth control: condoms and vasectomies. If neither of those are acceptable to you, you can't "take charge" of your own birth control except by not having vaginal sex.

My girl was on the pill and used spermicide and still got pregnant. I was glad, of course, but these methods are not foolproof ... No stopping huge balls, I guess, right guywithbigballs?

What religion forbids vasectomies but approves condoms and sex outside of marriage?

Actually, I'll bet asking this question (be sure to explain why you reject the alternatives) of the woman you intend to have sex with will prove your most effective form of birth control.

Good luck.

Well yes, and no. Women on the pill who still get pregnant do so because the pill has failed them and there is a fertile egg to fertilise. All the sperm in the world won't get a women pregnant if she hasn't produced the egg. But I guess it's possible to still get pregnant using spermicide if not enough is used and there's an unusually large number of sperm. Just a guess.
