Ah, makes sense. My alma mater has, according to Google a 4-5% acceptance rate now, which is a fraction of what it was when I applied and was accepted. I figured it had to do with more out of state and international students, but what you said is true, too. Sought after schools expanded over the last decade and they need to make up that dough. That said, tuition costs are still very affordable in state.

It's a sad state of affairs, especially when you consider most people seek jobs that they can put a few years in and use their employer's benefits to do their masters on the employer's dime or halve the total cost with them.
