I remember watching all this play out in real time.It's really sad and disgusting how Shane basically destroyed the trajectory of Bobby's life and career just because he could. And faced no notable consequences. I can't even believe Bobby didn't even think to sue him.

I hope Bobby completes rehab and I hope he can recover. Shane Dawson is a predator and a POS.

I watched Bobby long before Shane, when he was only doing movie reviews. My two cents, for whatever it’s worth, is that Bobby moved to LA and couldn’t handle the transition, pressure, and newfound level of attention on his channel. He changed his focus multiple times and nothing really kicked off, started doing harder drugs, and spiraled. I’m glad he’s getting help

Nahhh it's not all Shane's fault, he's a grown man who can make his own decisions. I remember being excited that he was posting on the channel, but his videos sucked, and then they got REALLY sucky. It felt like someone who doesn't know how to make content, making content. Every video was a new "version" of Bobby that he would go on a loooong explanation of what these versions were - it was so confusing and so boring to endure. Even when Bobby left Shane's channel his own channel was failing.

And then he tried music and that failed too. So, I think it's all on him - but that's ok. We fail in life sometimes, doesn't mean you can't bounce back. Glad he's in rehab and I hope him a lifetime of sobriety.

Blame is shared. But I do believe Bobby was taken advantage of and he was bullied. Shane did give him a "chance" but I believe that the opportunity that Shane gave him was an unfair one by Shane's weaponization of his community against Bobby and he took advantage of Bobby's naivety.

The illicit use of substances and subsequent downfall after the fact were Bobby's decision though. But Shane isn't innocent.

This is ancient drama though. I sincerely hope Bobby gets better though.

I guess I can respect that. He did go off the deep end. I do just think it was an overall toxic environment given Shane's past but Bobby probably did have issues before he and Shane collabed. I just don't think it did him any favors and I believe Shane took advantage of that. But yeah. I can respect your viewpoint

People go into debt and share apartments with a bunch of people working as interns just hoping for opportunities in whatever field they're focusing on. Bobby was wanting to be a serious, successful YouTuber and he was just handed the ultimate opportunity to prove himself. And he couldn't handle it. And you have no business being a YouTuber if you can't handle online bullies. Especially if you're known for being one yourself.

Yeah, mostly nostalgia and distant teenage lust. Doubt I’d care otherwise. I don’t think SD ruined his life or did anything illegal, but I find it hard to believe he didn’t have some ulterior motives, or ‘gave’ Robert anything he didn’t expect to gain in part from. Gifting him a car he knew he wouldn’t be able to afford the taxes on is a real underhanded thing to do. If he was so generous why feel the need to make a video highlighting how kind you are.

It doesn’t really matter now. Obviously Bobby got in too deep in the years that followed like so many do. Never would have expected this, but such is life.

yeah even when he was acting as a top he had his hair in pig-tails or would be wearing lingerie, although i'm guessing that's what his polls were saying people wanted to see from him because he did start his OF using his nastyboi aesthetic.
