Looking at your thread about lusting after a zaftig woman, don't you think that the aesthetic of the African Diaspora is probably a bit more in favor of or forgiving of abundance? I was tickled when I heard that in some African countries brides were "fattened up" for the wedding day. Lends a whole new view of "love handles", huh? Does it have to do with the fact that in the face of starvation, fleshiness is a sign of health and wealth? In the West, the figure of the ingenue seems to be favored more... I wonder if this is a hold over from each culture's archetypal example of the fertile female?
