Are you one of those who collects books?

Do you have them stacked in large piles or are you a neatnik with them all lined up on the shelves? Still in the bag from the store? Or do you not have any books-perhaps you can't read (which begs the question how you're reading this).

Naw - seriously - my ex stole all the book shelves when we split - and a lot of the books too! Suddenly all the books we bought together became his.

Still - I have my many pre-ex :)confused:) books and several post-ex books too - and one shelf. The recently read are on the shelf. The rest are in boxes, bags and random piles wherever they fit til I get my arse in gear and allocate funds for shelves - or maybe make some... hahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! *ahem* 'Scuze me!. Or not

The ones that found shelf space are organized by category, but even with the three bookshelves there are books overflowing in boxes (mostly organized) and bags (not so much) tucked under furniture and in corners.

I'm seriously considering one of these.

I'm an inveterate reader. I have more books than I know what to do with. If I get down to 3 that I haven't read I start to panic and have to buy more. I'm addicted to Amazon and I'm also a seller there so that I'm reading and listing the books for sale as I finish them although not many have resale value (the gay-themed ones usually do, strangely; mass market ones don't). I avoid Barnes and Noble like the plague. I went in the other day to buy a new French Dictionary and came out $156.00 later which was good for me. I've turned one walk-in closet into a walk-in bookcase.

And it's genetic. If you were to come to my mother's house for Thanksgiving, when you came downstairs for breakfast in the morning on the Friday after, everyone from two to eighty-two would be reading. I think you get the picture.

The ones on the older shelves are by category, but when I have built more shelves, I have not taken them all off and re-organized them. I have shelves almost every where they will fit. After I read a book, if it will not fit on a shelf, it goes on a pile on a chair or something, until I have company, then I put them in a box and put it in the storage area.

I have a lot of family books too, the oldest are a KJV from 1841 and a Webster's from 1849.

I have books all over the place. Some are shelved, some are stacked, and some are still in boxes. Some of my lit stuff is organized fairly well, but the rest is organized chaos.
