According to him, it seems he was the victim of a common scam. He was taken to parties where he was drugged, given food and drinks, then given a massive bill. He paid. Then, he declined the invitation to another party, stating he didn’t want to spend any more money, but his driver insisted they’d be guests, so he went. Unsurprisingly, the same thing happened. When he refused to pay, a group of men tried to seize both him and his friend and put them in vans. Naturally, assuming these guys were trying to abduct them, he fought back. Turns out they were plainclothes policemen. Not sure of what the whole list of charges they’re throwing at him are, but they’re likely to include theft, evading police, assault on police, probably disturbing the peace, and some weird stuff that is only possible in Dubai. Outlook is bleak.
