Why would it be unprofessional? It is not like I am telling my client/colleague "Hey, I am not wearing any underwear". Also, I am not exposing myself to anybody.
I believe it is the state of mind. When I am at work, my mind is at work, with or without underwear does not makes any difference. It is just personal preference. I prefer to feel good when at work.
