i need help or I’m actually looking to rant a bit.

I regret getting a Honda. I’m starting to see the lack of quality in these cars. I’m so upset. I bought my car New in 2016. Three years and 20k miles later the body of that car is acting like a used whore. The plastics door thingy that seals the door from the rain is coming off, the back window whipper is falling apart. The door ajar sensor goes off all the time. I’m so heart broken because this was my first big boy car I bought by myself. I feel like a fool. I’m really considering trading it in but I want o pay it off first and that means three more years. And like that I’ve only taken this car to the dealership. I’ve taken good care of her and I’m so sad now :( I swear I wanna cry.

Hi Auggie: So sorry to hear about your car woes. That sucks.

Your new car came with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. All the issues you describe should be covered by the warranty. If it's still in effect.

Since you are only at 20,000 miles, you are well under the mileage limit. If you bought the car three years prior to today, then you are out of warranty. That means all the issues you describe would be fixed at your expense.

If the car is still under warranty, I'd take it to the dealer for repair. If it's out of warranty, you can still use the dealer or see if a local independent shop that works on Honda's might be cheaper.

Either way, I wish you luck. Let us know how it goes.

Edited to add: Did you by any change purchase an extended warranty? If so, I would expect that would still be in effect. Otherwise, see above. Good luck!

I think my warranty just expired. I’m due for an oil change and will ask.

Best to always lease a new car every few years and they are always covered by the warranty !! BMW has great leases as does Cadillac!! Good luck!!

I don’t have the extra money to burn on a luxury car. Maybe after I pay off a mortgage.

If your warranty did just recently expire, you might get a little wiggle from the Honda Service rep, especially given the low miles on your car. If the issues you are experiencing are common to your make, model and year, sometimes they will "comp" the repair. Also known as "goodwill". And if that doesn't work, I've known dealerships to give you a discount off the cost of repair to keep you happy and ultimately, your business. Doesn't hurt to ask.

This is when the Internet is your friend. Google your car's specifics and see if there are convos/discussions about common failures of certain features. The more info/knowledge you have the better your case is to make for reduced cost/free repairs. Good Luck!

True. Check for recalls for the trouble you’re having.

ETA; I’m not a car guy. However, if the door isn’t sealing out water, it might be shorting the door ajar sensor.

With my little googling power I thought that too. But it’s not. The sensor is got itself James into the frame of the car. How I don’t know. I was able to fix that problem by tapeing a little cardboard on the door so when I close the door, the sensor activated and it knows my door is closed. 2019 and I had to fix car trouble with cardboard. Lol

Let see if I can be of assistance.

The fact that you are able to "fix" the door ajar sensor with cardboard tells me that the sensor is not getting adequate pressure to close the circuit. There are a couple of thing that may be the issue.

The first thing is it the sensor could be lose and backed it's way into the frame of the doorjamb. Theres not enough pressure to close the circuit and will cause the door ajar light. Wiggle the sensor, there should not be any play.

The second thing it could be is the pressure switch could become weak and needs a little extra pressure (cardboard) to close the circuit. If that's the case, you can either stick with the cardboard or buy a new sensor.

I have a question about the rear wiper. Is it the rubber blade that is falling apart or is it the metal wiper arm that is falling apart?

If the car is in NY or NYC, that alone can be a factor on the rapid decline of the vehicle

The door seals often freeze with water to the door and car body, so when you open the door, the seal pulls off

Similar for the rear window washer, they freeze to the glass, and when one tries to turn them on they can break . Worse yet people use them to clear the rear glass of snow, without scraping first

Door sensor problem, has your car ever experienced any NY roads or pot holes

Car body loose, again have you experienced NY roads and pot holes

Throw in Mr road salt and there you have it

Last but not least 2016 saw a bit of flooding in the southern states, submerged cars and homes. The cars are supposed to be destroyed; but often dealers get the insurance and ship the vehicles out of state to be sold as new. Generally this is the cause of rust and electrical problems

The sensor needs to be replaced for sure since it Doesn’t wiggle.

And the whipper blade squishy thing needs to be replaced. But everything works on it.

Everything you said checks up but this was a new car. New car smells and everything. 2 miles on the odometer. The potholes and assholes in ny is another reason I want o move away from this place.

Wait...you mean the rubber part of the wiper needs to be replaced?
That’s, like, a completely routine part of car care. All wiper blades on all cars wear out.

I mean, they used to last a helluva lot longer than they do these days. Even the expensive blades are crap now. They last a year, at most.

You can drive to a place like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts and tell them what you need. They’ll even install it right there, free of charge. You’ll have to pay for the blade, of course.
