You clearly haven't spent much time traveling the world. After my undergrad I was burnt out and decided to take a gap-year before law school. I spent 12 months traveling around Europe to clear my head and figure out my life. There were many occasions where I was flipping through channels and came across what to me, an American, was basically porn with just a bit more artistic flavor. I remember thinking that Europeans were crazy because the things they showed on TV would never be played in America, not even on PPV like HBO/Showtime. No joke, I watched un-simulated sex on TV in Spain, featuring erect penis and insertion on mainstream TV! Granted it was after 1 am. They show everything (including 'pop shots') on TV after midnight in France and Portugal. There was an arts/culture type channel (can't remember where but I think in Greece) that showed nudity (including full-frontal male, sometimes erect, sometimes semi) at all hours of the day/night. Almost everywhere I've been in Europe, apart from Vatican City, sexuality is not seen as something to be ashamed of. It's embraced and it's often portrayed openly on TV and in movies as a realistic expression human sexuality, albeit in an artistic way. It's not treated as a taboo but also not as graphic as the porn you find on the internet.
